Top dog in the mouse catching business
This works better than anything else I have ever used to catch mice . I have a tin 8 *10 shed in back yard that gets mice from railroad tracks behind yard. This trap the first week caught 18 mice over the course of a week . Then over the past couple of months another 19 mice . From what I have learned is to keep changing the water after you catch anything and to wear gloves as to keep the scent of human contact off the trap. This is true of all traps as I have learned. Mice have a incredible sense of smell and don't like our scent on a trap. When I got this trap I greased the center rod carefully with Vaseline ,be careful not to lose the little black rubbers on the end of the rod . Replace the rubbers and rod and put in bucket ,this keeps it spinning quietly and freely as to aid in the process. This is easy to set up and maintain. I would definitely recommend this, for a outside shed or basement . I got one for my brother in law and he had same results.

Works great for small to medium mice when set up properly
My kitchen became infested with a little critter whose scraping was waking me up at night. I finally saw him coming home one night, a cute little guy sitting on my counter who disappeared like the Flash when he saw I was home. I had the log roller on order and set up within a day and a half in the kitchen.I went to bed at 11 pm and was awakened at 1 am by a water sloshing sound. There he was, in the bucket! And I was shocked to discover he was already #2 caught by the trap (#1 had expired and was floating). #2 was tall enough to stand on his tiptoes and keep his head out of the water so I had to add some water to the bucket to put the poor fella out of his misery. No more incidents and no more scraping that night, and two troublemakers are now peacefully buried in my backyard. I have since reloaded and placed the trap in my garage to cleanse that area.A few general tips from what I've found and seen:- This size is best for the smaller mice, not for huge 6 inch long rats or squirrels; there are other options for that size of animal.- I heartily recommend watching the Shawn Woods youtube video to catch tips and tricks for setup- I cut notches in the top of the bucket with a box cutter and laid the roller in the notches; it is much easier than trying to line up and drill holes in the bucket- Use the bucket handle mounting locations as a guide for aligning the roller on the center of the bucket- I kept the ramps in-line with the roller to make it easier for the critters to get onto the roller- Make sure the roller is spinning freely, and also make sure your bait is evenly distributed around the diameter in the middle of the roller. A large offset hunk of peanut butter may counterbalance the mouse's weight and prevent the roller from spinning them off.- Generously lubricate the outer portions of the roller leading up to the bait. The instructions suggest petroleum jelly, I just used hand lotion. The little guys try to hang on when the log rotates on them so the more slippery the better.- I also placed some dish soap in the water to make it a little more slippery for them to grab on to the sides of the bucket to hang on or climb out. As I mentioned, imagine the size of the critter you are trying to catch and fill the bucket accordingly so they can't stand up in the bucket. This needs to be balanced with their ability to climb or jump out of the bucket; you may need to find a taller bucket, but a regular 5 gal. contractor pail worked fine for me.

It works and no mess like the spring traps. Took longer but so far so good.
Had the bucket. Drilled 2 small holes opposite sides. Simple. Spins easily. Coated with a little PB. Took an old piece of window channel and cut out hook so it slides over bucket end. Added a little bait. 3-4 inches water. Voila ! Might get another one for second location but not right away. Great idea for a product. Thank you.

Feeling rolled
Saw this reviewed on Youtube by Shawn Woods with words similar to "best ever mousetrap" with a link to this product. Later saw other type mousetraps with similar descriptions, so don't know what to believe. However, upon receiving this rolling log mousetrap, I noticed it didn't spin very well. Put it in a bucket with holes, and it spun even worse. Since Shawn had said to lubricate, I lubricated the holes. Little did I realize, the holes don't need to be lubricated, but the spindle going inside the log does. So I did that with lithium grease, and more and more lithium grease. It spun better, but not by much. I put some peanut butter on the log, encircling it, and stationed the log next to our other traps that had failed to catch "Einstein," the first of 30 mice we've been unable to catch. Unfortunately for us, "Einstein," likely a small field mouse, ate 3/4 of the peanut butter on the log. After two days of trying again and finding no mouse in the bucket, I tried strapping paddle-like obstacles onto the log, attempting to get "Einstein" to go out on precarious limbs to get his PB. He only ate half the peanut butter this time, but again, no mouse in the bucket. I've almost given up. I don't see that there's any way to get the log to spin very quickly, what's needed to catch a small mouse. This product comes nowhere close to being the best mousetrap ever. But, while my patience lasts, maybe the best mousefeeder ever? I've left a comment/question on Youtube for Shawn, since it's his affiliate manufacturer, and I presume he gets a cut, but no response. Given the large percentage of one stars given for this product (which I've only noticed now), one would think he'd disassociate himself. I may try to return. Extremely disappointed!!

Doesn't work with cowardly mice.
I had high hopes for this product. Saw all the videos showing it capturing multiple mice in one night and what not.I liked that it wasn't something you had to reset or replace for each mouse. Not knowing how much of a mouse problem I had this was a nice benefit. The product itself seems fine. No defects or anything. The problem was with the mouse(mice?). I observered it making its way up the ramp, licking up all the pb residue. But it would always stop at the rim of the bucket and never even attempt to go on the roller.Maybe if I left it for a few more days it would've gotten bolder or more desperate. At least the rolling trap allowed me to see where the mouse was coming out from.Grabbed some regular snap traps and laid them out. Mouse was dead within an hour. Those with braver or more reckless mice might have more success.
