Start Your Own Business Guide
A very detailed and honest way to start your own consulting business from scratch (ie oe zero) to 7 figures. I do personally believe that it would be sensible to have a minimum of 3 months (ie ideally 6 months) of personal savings if you are going to quit your job and go fulltime. If on the other hand you want to start your own consulting business on the side (ie commonly called a "Side Hustle!") in addition to your fulltime 9am to 5pm job. Then you can start slowly and gradually whilst you start gaining consulting clients and the income or earnings from your consulting business take over your job salary. You can then jump over to Fulltime. Matthew will tell that although its both personally and professionally satisfying and you can work when you want and how you want. Its far from easy and you will need the mindset and have to make sacrifices in order to succeed in your own profitable consulting business. Still easy to read with lots of valuable advice. In fact I would go as far to say DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT STARTING YOUR OWN CONSULTING BUSINESS until you have purchased this book. Highly recommended

Excellent read with practical advice!
This book is very helpful and contains valuable advice on starting a consulting business. It covers topics like mindset, habits, assessing your expertise and finding your niche, setting up a company and financing it, clients, creating credibility, and marketing your value, amongst others. I found the first chapter about mindset and creating habits very useful, as I think that is the key to any successful business. As the author outlines, you must be willing to change your habits and make sacrifices in the short term to achieve long-term benefits. In addition, the author highlights that defining the "Why" and not being scared of failure are crucial points. The book also contains some very helpful action points, e.g., writing down "What sacrifices are you willing to make." A quote by Friedrich Nietzsche mentioned in the book resonated with me: "He who has a why can endure any how" - highly recommended read with practical advice for anyone starting a consulting business!

Exercises and checklists
You would normally not expect to have exercises and checklists that you can fill in the same book in a normal book. I like the fact that the author put a very informative book but also thought of making it interactive and more workbook-like. There were some questions I could not answer right now, but I am looking forward to going back to this book once I start building my company!

Shallow advice missing the most important information.
Utterly dreadful shallow advice that a 10-year old could tell you. Having run a consulting business for over 10 years, I was looking for some interesting nuggets but unfortunately the advice is a collection of the most obvious information. The hardest thing with starting a consulting firm is winning customers and first sales. This book devotes exactly two lightweight pages to the subject and includes such sage advice as "Make sure your LinkedIn profile is up to date".I would save your money and find an alternative.
