Great lens for landscape photography
I purchased this lens for my Canon EOS M10 and I have been really impressed!I wanted a lens to complement the 15-45mm lens my camera came with, so I had a more versatile kit for my recent holiday. Since I was planning to do mostly landscape photography, I decided on this ultra wide lens after reading the reviews and I am very happy I did. In fact, I ended up using this lens pretty much the entire time because it creates stunning results for an amateur like me, who wants great holiday memories without the need to fork out for a more expensive and complicated kit - which would also not be as practical to carry around. Very happy with the results and I can't wait to explore more beautiful places with my new lens :)

Excellent sharp and very portable
On a whim, I decided to buy this and the canon EOS-M camera, as I was slightly tired of lugging my DSLR gear with its various lenses. I am very pleased with the result. The firmware update of the focusing system in the camera made it useable, but this lens transformed it. I was carrying both my DSLR 600D with several lenses including the wide angle 10-22 mm on a recent holiday, but I ended up using this lens on the EOS-M most of the time for my landscape shots. It is also superb value for money, as the camera and the lens cost about £700, similar to the cost of a wide angle lens alone. The photos are at least as good as those taken with the canon 10-22 mm or perhaps slightly better. Good but expensive
Good lens and if you really do want the ultra portability of the EOS-M format a good addition to the basic 18-55 kit lens. Seems in practice almost as good optically as the more expensive (and far bigger/heavier) 10-22 EF-S mated with the (ridiculously expensive) EOS-M to EF adaptor . However, the latching mechanism is a bit awkward - at least at first. Real gripe is price - Canon are stuffing people over the EOS-M format! Notice how you can't buy a separate spare body, and can only buy various selected kit combinations (which are admittedly cheap compared the the apparent price of the separate pieces). Then there is the shadow release of the Mk 2 (not available in Europe) and the rumours of the Mk 3 - which no doubt will be released at a premium price (n.b. the basic EOS-M kit has fallen from £400 to £300 on Amazon over less than a year - the EF-M 11-22 dipped first but is now £10 higher than when I bought in November). They could have quite a winner here for weight/size conscious travellers/trekkers like me especially if they could produce a decent telephoto EF-M lens. Or they could lose us to a competitor! Wake up Canon!

This lens has made such a difference to me as a Youtuber
I am a beginner YouTube so am not such an expert as other people. For me I would say that it is so easy to use, I started using it as soon as I unpacked it. I am so happy with it; it makes such as difference, particularly with the depth/field of view.I think it is a good price for what I wanted and I am satisfied. I may return to update my review but so far it is good.

Fantastic compact wide angle lens.
Punches up there with the expensive Canon 10-22mm lens! A fantastic wide angle lens which has transformed my landscape photography. The portability with the EOS M system means I can take it everywhere, without sacrificing image quality. It's a no brainier if you're looking for a sharp wide angle lens.

Brilliant space saver, sharp lens.
Excellent and sharp lens. So glad I no longer need an adaptor to fit a wide angle to my camera. With this lens on my camera it still fits nicely into my hip bag making it much more likely I'll actually take it out with me for the day. It has hardly been off my camera since I got it. Very happy to use this on hikes.

Only for single person portraits
Good lens for portraits especially indoors or at night. Not suitable for landscape photography, or shooting more than 1 subject at a time. The lens will only focus on one spot, and will not even focus on two people next to each other. Most group photos will be blurry and out of focus. So it is a very specialised lens for very limited use - but its very good at it.

Happy with the lenses, I use for video and does the job for what I need.
I use this for video and purchases as I film in a small space and wanted more in the shot. The EF-M lenses are expensive compared to some others and there’s limited options for the Canon M series. But even though limited I really like the lenses.
