Better than I was expecting
I don’t often write reviews but I was so pleased with this little tree. It arrived really quickly in a proper plant/flower box and is lovely and healthy looking. It looks just like the photo.

Aesthetically beautiful.....without even needing to trim her as of yet. Quality? 100%, guaranteed.
If you want exactly what it says in the description, this tree is for you! I couldn't believe how quick my tree arrived (1 and half day). The condition is fantastic! She looks very strong, healthy and vibrant. Furthermore, I don't even have to trim her as she looks exactly as the picture shows, and its a shape I think I will be keeping her as. A plus is the beautiful bonsai pot she came in. I'm not too sure whether I will be transferring the tree to a bigger pot to allow the tree to branch out a bit more, but regardless of what size she'll be/become, I can assure all purchasers, whom wish to own a bonsai, that I cannot more highly recommend the quality, hardness, beauty and aesthetically promise that you'd inherit with this tree. Of course, I'm speaking in regards to people like myself whom live in an area of the world that is infamous for its dark and dreary weather system, which of course I'm talking about the UK. But, with a lot of research into the Chinese elm, I can promise that with the right care, there is no reason this tree can't fulfil a desire to own such a wonderful piece of expressionist art. Buy one! You will not be disappointed.

Great for beginners
New to bonsai so this tree is perfect to experiment. Chinese Elm is less sensitive to mistakes when it comes to pruning and repotting according to my research.I had to do a repot 2 weeks after i received because it was very hard to water it properly, also it outgrew the pot. Couple days passed but the tree still looks healthy even though i think i cut more roots than i should have. I can even see a couple new buds so it means the repotting procedure was successful, but i constantly keep my eyes on it in the following 2 weeks just to make sure. Had to get a handful of bonsai supplies for the repot such as akadama, bonsai soil, wire, mesh for the drainage holes. I wanted to do it properly, although at the next repot i will try to mix my own soil. But that will be like 2 years from now...It lives outside now, i found this is the best place to put, also others advised to keep it outside as it's a tree. Been a bit scared that it will drop a lot of leaves or just die outright because its pretty cold outside at the moment but so far so good. It drops some leaves but i also see new ones growing.I only give 4 stars because the trunk has wire bite marks which is the result of the trunk bending process and leaving the wire on for too long. In some places have ugly rusty looking scars, my guess is that they didnt use proper bonsai wire and it got rusted.Other than that, a good looking plant.

will die eventually unless you re-pot
i bought exact same plant a year or two ago and whilst it looks amazing in its little pot i soon learned that no matter what i did the plant started to lose leaves straight away and die . i have a theory that these trees are grown in bulk and when you order they uproot and cut the roots down and stuff them into tiny pots . looks great but the root system that is left will not support the plant and its leaves hence the dying and losing leaves first , plus the plant goes into shock and wont grow . i didn't make the same mistake this time and straight away re-potted it into a normal pot . it did start losing leaves like the first one i had but then with feeding the root system must have grown big enough to support the plant and after six months its still going and thriving. i have even had to trim it and now it needs another . i would rather have a living tree that doesn't look as good than a dead one in a small pot . glad i tried again i would save you from making my mistake if you're like me you have a busy life you cant be around the plant 24/7 which is what a bonsai needs and may miss watering having it in a bigger pot it becomes more forgiving . also do not put this on a window near a radiator that is on it will dry out real fast. i hope this helps someone

Have bought 2 of these trees - both dead within a month - no response from seller. AVOID
I have purchased 2 Chinese elms from this seller. The first one died within 2 months and we thought it was our fault. We have a Bonsai Tree care book and did all the things suggested to revive it. We re-potted it in special soil (Miracle Gro Cactus & Bonsai Compost). We moved it into a better lit position. We scraped the bark to check if there was any sign of green life - there was, so we nursed it for the next 6 months. Eventually we declared it dead and purchased a replacement as it was a birthday present for my daughter.Within a few weeks the new one shed all it leaves looks dead. We water it sparingly (as per books instructions) with rain water. We feed it as per instructions with special Bonsai food.Have emailed the seller (richard at bonsai2u) multiple times - no response.*Find a better seller if you're thinking about buying a bonsai tree*

Nice tree, didn't last long.
Didn't do to well during transport and never really recovered. Survived about a year.

Very nice specimen, well packed & good value...
Very pleased, arrived this morning, thought I'd be opening a box of dry dust with a tired plant, BUT NO, the complete opposite! Beautiful. Well watered it seemed since leaving garden centre and considering it had been in a Royal Mail warehouse over the weekend, had not suffered as a consequence of the dark. Must order it on a Monday next time, so no over weekend delay for it. Very little leaf drop in transit and cleverly packed. Oriental style pot and saucer finish it off nicely and as it is long rather than square, the pot assembly fits nicely on a small table or shelf, as in the picture. Giving a good dose of bright but cool sunlight until settles in. All round a nice item and may order another variety in the future - thank you.
