Nice violin but needs professional setup before it is playable
This violin arrived in an unplayable state. It was virtually untunable due to unbelievably sticky pegs, and there was something else not right - I took it to a luthier who pointed out that the bridge had been fitted backwards!! The luthier set that all right, and the violin is now a very nice sounding and playable instrument.Also, there should have been a felt cover to protect the instrument when its case (e.g. from getting scratched by the bow) - that was missing. I've bought other Cremona SV-800 violins so I know what should be included. It's not a huge issue, I got my niece to make me a replacement, but still...I own three of these violins (I move around a lot and keep violins in different places) - the basic instrument is really OK, the bow is usually good, and a nice case. But the factory setup is appalling - you should expect to take it to someone for proper adjustment before the instrument is playable. Having said that, if you take the setup hassles into account, it is a nice sounding violin.
