Suits my learning style perfectly
Spanish verbs have been a huge challenge for me, particularly the conjugation part. A couple of months ago, a friend advised me to try the 'model verb method' which worked miracle for him. The key idea of this method is to memorize verbs by group rather than one by one. That is, pick some verbs as 'group leaders' or models, learn their various tenses thoroughly, and then build groups of verbs which share the same conjugation patterns. Every time you come across a new verb, find out which model verb it should associate with and label it into that group. For example, take 'conocer' as a model verb, learn its tenses well; then you may find it easier to remember how 'favorecer', `crecer' and 'aparecer' are conjugated as they change in the same way as 'conocer'. These four words belong to the same group. I've tried out this method and it really works! Memorizing groups of verbs seems far quicker than tackling every verb individually. Now I've made it a habit of grouping verbs according to their conjugation pattern. When I try to study a new verb, I associate it with other verbs following the same model. This book is very simple, with dozens of verb tables and a verb index. But it has a feature that other Spanish verb references don't offer: beneath every verb table, there is an "other verbs that follow this model" section which lists other verbs that change in the same way as the model verb. This feature has proven immensely useful for me; it happens to match my verb-grouping method. Now with this book, I no longer have to collect verbs and link them manually on my notebook. I use highlighters of different colors to mark out the verbs I've known and the ones to be studied. One color for one verb group. For revision, I flip through the pages and the verbs seem pop up automatically. Many Spanish reference works on the market provide verb tables, but most of them only cover 30-50 common verbs (hacer, ser, estar, empezar, etc). This book is comprehensive: it covers 90+ models and facilitates comparison between tenses.By the way, I'm also using Spanish Verb 501. It's good, but too heavy to put in my bag. Besides, it introduces verbs one by one; I really don't think it's a clever way to memorize all these verbs individually. If you're also using the "verb group" method like me, you may find this reference very helpful.

Disappointed
Very disappointed. The book didn't provide any help in learning. Just lists. No mention of I, you, them, we, and where each conjugation fits. Waste of money for me, I will buy a better one.

Probably better structured books out there
Really you need a book that gives all the most common verbs with all their conjugations. This book is not that.Instead, the book gives a single 'generic' verb and lists all the 'goes-like' verbs that are conjugated in the same fashion below. Also, compound verbs have their own section, which actually makes referencing more difficult.

Good all rounder
Fantastic. The only draw back is that this is compact therefore does not include all verbs or their meaning. But it is great for reference and has got me through 3 years of classes!!

Fantastic little book
This is a fantastic little book, Spanish grammar especially the verbs is very difficult but this little book lays out the verbs in an easy to understand order.

Handy and helpful
A fellow student recommended this booklet to me. I've found it handy. It is simple and of a little price. The "Other verbs that follow the same pattern" section under each model verb table is particularly useful, which helps me easily identify the changing pattern of verbs with same or similar ending (such as -car, -cer, -gir, etc). Saves me a whole lot of trouble summarizing verbs of same pattern.
