A good Sci fi creature feature
Marked up as a sci fi/horror. Well more like a sci fi/action. Still an enjoyable movie with some stunning scenery, an entertaining watch

Riddick Fans, This Does Not Disappoint.
If you are a fan of 'Pitch Black' and 'The Chronicles Of Riddick' then you will love this. To me, it really felt like they understood what we loved from the first two movies (3 movies if you include 'Dark Fury', now you know I'm a real fan) and set to work on a recipe for the perfect movie.I saw this in the cinema with a friend who had never seen any of the other movies and he loved it, so I definitely think it's a great stand-alone movie, but they have put some things in there for the fans of the franchise too. This, in my opinion, is best described as a classic sci-fi thriller where the characters are what keep you on the edge of your seat. I honestly think it is the best film in the series. My mom watched this one first and was so impressed that she asked me to show her the previous films in the series.I would recommend this for a movie night with a group of friends, but may be even better watched on your own, wrapped up in bed on a stormy night.

More,More!
Though it shows signs of of financial constraints compared to "chronicles", this is still a worthy successor to the first two movies. You get few extras with the main title, but that's more than some budget releases. You get your monsters, both animal and human, your futuristic machines and weapons, your marvellous alien landscapes, and of course the eponymous Mr Riddick. It's another scenario where the harder the Mercs chase him, the harder he hunts them down and knocks them off like a one-man pack of Aliens, using whatever comes to hand in true Furyan style. The FX and sets both digital and practical, are well up to expectations and used intelligently to get maximum milage out of them. The characterization and acting is good for a blood and thunder action movie. If Mr Diesel would kindly make a couple more "faster" movies and get the dough to make another like this, I for one would be highly delighted.

Action, Action, Bit of sadness, fair bit of humour, lots of swearing... but did I mention Vin Disel and action?
Vin Diesel.... That should be enough for a review in itself.Riddick.... Again I shouldn't have to say more. But I will, for those that loved Pitch Black (more so those that weren't a fan of the Chronicles of Riddick), this film brings back all of the brilliance that was from the first film. While I do like all of the Riddick films, I think I have to say this is my favourite, You see him Broken at the beginning, the film explains what happened in regards to the Necro's and then it gets going on another Desolate world that seems to want to kill you at every opportunity. There is a nice twist in the storyline of which I won't spoil.I will however say this, I am most disappointed in the fact they killed off Riddicks pet!!!

Riddick (DVD)
I wasn't a great fan of Pitch Black but was over the moon with the second film,The Chronicles of Riddick. Brilliant SF fantasy, in its own way up there with the best, like Bladerunner. It had everything, so many parts of the story inter-twining. Many novel things in there too. It was amazing. So we, my husband and I, very much looked forward to seeieng this 3rd Riddick film, with the same director as The Chronicles. It was pretty good in the beginning. Riddick having found himself alone left on this hostile planet and having to use his every skill to try to survive. Of course a totally different feel to the second, but more like Pitch Black. Towards the end I found it getting a bit boring. I think that Vin Diesel had to put a lot of his own money into this film so perhaps it was a question of lack of funds. It's still a good piece of entertainment but not up there like the previous film. I hope Vin Diesel gets sufficient funding for sequel 4! There's not enough good films of the genre out there.
