SOME VARIOUS DUBIOUS STATISTICS ON OFFER HERE!
This fine collection of 30 TOP TRUMPS cards for THE PHANTOM MENACE measure 30cm by 16cm, feel durable and are full colour. Like the majority of TOP TRUMPS products, they come in a nice plastic case. Each card has a name, original picture from the film, a series of 6 different unique statistics (Jedi Powers, Dark Side, Greed, Courage, Flying Skills and Hall Of Fame) and character information at the bottom. However, I found some of the statistics to be fairly dubious to say the least, especially since we are given no indication as to their highest value. Each type seems to differ tremendously. Yoda has a Jedi Power rating of 95 - so it is safe to assume that 100 is the ultimate – yet Darth Maul and Darth Sidious have Dark Side powers of only 50 and 55 respectively. Likewise, Anakin Skywalker’s Flying Skills are 20 and Jabba The Hutt has a Greed value of only 9, so we can merely guess that the maximum for these are 20 and 10. Meanwhile, Jar Jar Binks rather grotesquely has a Courage rating of 29 – compare that Courage score to Jedi Masters Ki-Adi-Mundi (15), Yoda (3) and Mace Windu (20), let alone Darth Maul himself with a rating of only 5 (despite taking on two Jedi at the finale of the film) and it is easy to see where the problems lie. Apparently Binks, such a reviled abomination to many die-hard STAR WARS fans, is so much braver than the best of the Jedi Masters and Sith Apprentices! On a positive note, it is a pleasure to see some of the minor characters represented here – Aurra Sing and handmaiden Sabe among them – but maybe adding the Claw Fish is taking things a bit too far when, perhaps, one of the much more interesting Pod Racers could have been included instead.Still, overall I am quite pleased with these cards. I doubt I’ll use them in TOP TRUMPS play but shall keep them as a collector’s item for a film which this year is celebrating its 25th Anniversary. How time flies, even in a galaxy far, far away!

I collect them, but I am a nerd. ...
I collect them, but I am a nerd. It is a welcome addition to the many packs I have. It is by far the movie in the franchise, with a vastly underused villain, and Jar Jar Binks (worst decision EVER!!)

Disappointed!
We have been playing the 'rise of the bounty hunters' for a while and wanted to try a new one. Overall I found that too many of the cards had only one sensible choice to take. Through four games, one person pretty much went straight through and one without the other person having a turn. There were no draws and the point of the game is that it passes from player to player more often. I don't think an extra category (6 instead of 5) has helped at all.
