Jarware Stainless Steel Spice Shaker, Wide Mouth Mason Jar Spice Lid

This stainless shaker works great! I'm very pleased with my purchase. I use this with a straight sided wide mouth 1 1/2 pint/24 oz Ball brand jar to store parmesan or other similar sprinkle cheese in the refrigerator.In general use I use the plastic wide mouth screw caps, however, in one of the rare instances where being a bit of an organized "pack rat" paid off, I found the original metal rings that came with the bottles. If you need this part I recommend you ask friends if they have an extra to spare to avoid the extra expense.

I’m using this for Parmesan cheese, which I buy in bulk. It’s perfect with a 16oz mason jar. It looks pretty and works well.

I have 4 of these with my most used spices in the jars and i want to buy more. They haven’t rusted, they work great & have had absolutely no problem with them.

There isn't much out there that does the same job of this lid, so when I needed a way to shake out the contents of my mason jars this was the way to go. It does work really well. It's well built and has several options for the size of the holes you want to use. My only disappointment is the price, which seems really steep for such a simple device.

The picture of the jar lid was on a jar. I expected to have the lid and jar. My bad I guess I didn't read the description and it's ONLY the jar lid. No problem, I have plenty of mason jars and had a couple of the wide mouth jars needed to use this jar lid. I bought this lid because I use the salt free seasoning Mrs. Dash on my doctors orders (no salt for me-bummer) but I needed to grind the seasoning up so it was small like salt granules, and I wanted a shaker that didn't pour out too much at a time. This jar lid is PERFECT. It has two different sized holes and one pour hole so you can decide which opening you want and then it closes so the stuff inside stays dry.

This fails in a couple of fatal ways: first, the lid does not fit standard American “wide-mouth” mason jars. See picture. The one labeled “wide mouth” does fit on the top of a regular mason jars, but since the lid is not threaded, nothing is holding it on to the jar—a fatal flaw. It promptly falls off when you invert the jar—completely and totally failing in every way to be a “wide mouth jar lid shaker top”. I will say it has a weighty and substantial feel. Assuming it is really safe, food-grade stainless steel, it would have suited my purpose perfectly.

We love using mason jars for food storage. I found a great dehydrated cheddar cheese powder and this is perfect for sprinkling on vegetables, popcorn, or messing out for cooking!
