Super Easy to Assemble, Kind of Expensive for What it Is
This is a review for the Gearit vocal booth. The first thing I would like to say is that assembly is incredibly easy. It took me a half hour to unpack and assemble the booth. There are two suggestions I would make before assembling. First is to read through the directions, which are very clear and second is to use a quality 5mm key. One is included, but it's not the best.Pros:Sets up easily, looks great, and does kill ambient noise. If someone above you is playing bass-heavy television you are going to hear it, but it does what it's supposed to do extremely well.Great for vocals, guitar amps, and the like.Cons:Expensive for what it is. Technically, one could make this out of PVC and some moving blankets. It would be a pain, as most blankets don't have grommets and the top would have to be improvised so it wouldn't look as nice.A little bit small. Good for vocals, but it would be hard to do, for example, an acoustic guitar in the booth. It probably could be done but wouldn't be that comfortable. This isn't a deal killer because it's made to be portable. Some tips:Expect to add a small fan for in-between takes and a light. I'm using a shop light ($10) with an LED (no heat) bulb tilted upward to reduce glare.Included accessories are kind of cheap, but they are includedI chose not to use the small screws at the base because it seemed unnecessary. If you're planning to move this around I would suggest doing the same.Run a power strip and your headphone amp cables in before putting up the blanket walls. You're going to want a strip for iPad/Kindle lyrics, a headphone amp, a fan, and light. Just figure it into the cost.Lastly, and I can't stress this enough - you'll need a mic stand with a round base. I'm 5'9 and with a tripod my back is hitting the curtain. I like K&M stands, but I'm using an old Atlas round base (from when they were solid!). It works great with more valuable mics (mostly Neumann U87 or Mojave MA-201 here).

Another quality product from GearIt
The assembly instructions should have come with a weblink stating that you should definitely watch the video before you start. My only complaint would be that the written directions were a bit vague. Had the illustrations even been a bit larger to show the detail of how to line up the post would have been helpful. I kept wondering why it was mentioned “don't tighten the bolts” several times, now I know. Now that I have the booth together, the design of the poles makes sense and the suggestion about holding off on tightening bolts until full assembly. I do have to note that I did the assembly by myself, so the biggest challenge for me was placing the top cap onto the booth. Other than that, we're good to go and ready to rock. Now my comments are only suggestions for those that have already purchased or for future customers. Since the cap is going to completely cover the top of the booth blanket, instead of always using the cable ties, perhaps shower curtain hangers would provide a more convenient work around. I only suggest this in case someone did in fact want to be portable with the booth and wanted to cut down ondis-assembly / re-assembly time. I would have liked to have seen cross bars on the top frame of the booth, so the mic would be able to hang down using a boom attachment, rather than the fixed side rail assembly as shown. Also I will be installing grommets on the bottom padding in the corners, so if I have to move the booth, the floor padding moves with me. Now please keep in mind, these are only suggestions, in other words, my personal preferences. I am completely happy and excited to have this vocal booth. This will be my third purchase from GearIt and just like the microphone and drum throne that I have, all have been excellent quality. With the exception of now putting my recording equipment on a roll rack for convenient purposes, my home studio is more than ready. Thank you GearIt for another quality product.
