Q: is this just for one?

It depends on how long your hair is and how thick your hair is. It also depends on how much you dilute with with the developer.

Q: If my hair is box dyed brown will this still work on my hair with 30 developer?

I dyed hair that was previously dyed with the same loreal Hi colour in Cool Brown. I didn't like the colour so I bought the copper and redyed. While the colour is just beautiful now, redying has dried out my hair a bit and now I have to use leave in conditioners. I used 40 developer which is much stronger than 30 and opens the hair follicles even more to accept colour BUT also dries the hair out more. I've also changed to using mild shampoos and conditioners now which are paraben, sulphate and phthalate free. This has helped. Would I redye my hair again if I ever get the colour wrong.? Yes probably, as long as I'm prepared to constantly moisturize the dry hair I'll be left with. But heh! the colour would be right. I hope this helps.
