Olympus Myco Malt Yeast Extract Agar Plates with Activated Charcoal (MYA) for Mushroom Cultivation and Science Fair Projects (10 Sterile Prepoured Petri Dishes)

7 of the 10 plates were contaminated when I got them sadly just had to use what I had a for a transfer and now all contaminated and know the transfer was clean , sorry but I wouldn't trust these again.

I work with agar quite a bit. Usually cutting out the extra cost by making my own. Avoiding the possibility of severe temperatures while shipping. I wanted to isolate with charcoal agar and took the chance on ordering pre-made vs making my own with charcoal additive.While several of the plates were poured upside down. Making it a little more difficult for storage, only two showed signs of contamination. Shipping was quick and I had my items well before I followed through with making my own.I'd be happy to try more products in the future!

Every dish had condensation inside of it. I couldn't see the actual agar until it was too late. I absolutely had to transfer to a new agar dish so I got everything set up, cut a piece of mycelium, and opened one of these petri dishes. It was bad news! There was bacteria growing on it in a section already that I couldn't see because of all the condensation. But at this point I had to move forward so I transferred my agar to the other side of the dish. I then cut out the piece of bacteria. I hope it didn't contaminate everything else. Hopefully they return these with one dish missing.

Eh, You pay for convienence. I'm giving these guys four stars becuase the product did come sterile and caused no contamination issues which really is the most important thing when buying agar. Combined with the fact nobody else has blagar(black agar) Im happy with this seller, just wish the convienence didnt cost so much.

The plates themselves are nice. I like the charcoal in the agar to see the mycelium better. Other than that, they are agar plates that function as expected.The first set came in contaminated. I contacted Olympus Myco and they replaced the plates. Amazon storage is likely not the best and the plates that came directly from Olympus Myco were perfect.

Loved this product, no crossover pathology.
