Good build quality, Works great, and is fast. I would buy it again.
What I like about the SATA connector: Compact, consistently works great on MAC or PC and is plenty fast for general use. I'm not savvy with speed testing, but there are plenty of other reviews that address that. Also good: Switching Power Supply has a 5 foot cable with a robust plug that has a proven track record. There is a noise/ interference reduction cylinder on the cable of the power supply, so that it doesn't interfere with your other electronics. It will work on a wide range of voltages 100-240V~ 50/60Hz 0.6A Max. Switching power supplies are preferred as they are much more stable. The power supply cable is pliable and easy to route around other equipment. Conclusion: Great performance/ value for the money.

cheap, very functional, decent speed
I'm not using this full time. I had some very old drives that I didn't want to go to the trouble of wiring into my pc. I needed something simple to connect them and examine the contents of the drives, move data that I wanted to save and then blow away the contents. For ease of use, and speed of transfer, when you consider the cost, I mean... this is not going to hurt anyone's pocket book. I think you'd be hard pressed to find any real complaints other than maybe going down the "it won't connect IDE drives" rabbit hole, but who has IDE anymore? I mean... I do, I have 2, but they're so old at this point I'm just going to drill them. If I have been able to live without whatever is on their 20gigs of storage for the last 15+yrs I am not going to start missing it now.

Easy to use
There is no installation, just plug and play method. Simple functionality that way. Allowed me to plug a hard drive in and transfer files without trouble. Very pleased with this since I was able to retrieve old files from an older machine.

This one works most of the time
I tried a different adapter, an "Amazon Choice" item, and it flat out did not work with any drive on my macOS computer. I looked for any review comments related to using a Mac, but there are none. I will assume that it is incompatible with my computer.I ordered this device because of the many successful Mac comments in the reviews, and I can say that it is a superior build quality and it worked flawlessly until I connected one of my 2.5-in SATA drives. I think that there might be a compatibility issue with that drive, because it works flawlessly on my other unpowered adapter. The drive is an older OWC Mercury Elite SSD, and the drive interface may have some peculiar feature that makes it work extremely slowly with this device. I should say that a different OWC Mercury SSD (not Elite) worked perfectly with this device.I plan to keep this adapter, though, because it works so well with all of the 3.5-in drives that require external power. I gave it a 4-star rating because of the issue that I experienced.

Works for internal CD/DVD/Bluray drives!
I recently upgraded to a new PC case that unfortunately lacked any slots for optical drives, but the cheapest reputable enclosure I could find was like $40, and kits specifically for optical drives cost even more and involved stringing like 2 molex cables and a 3-pin ribbon all over the place. So, I decided to try this first, just in case. The product page doesn't make any mention of compatibility with optical drives, but it supplies DC 12v/2a through SATA which is exactly what mine (LG WH16NS40) needed, and I figured the 5gpbs throughput should be more than enough to watch a bluray. Sure enough, it works perfectly! Using it to hot-swap old hard drives for testing and cold storage is just a bonus as far as I'm concerned.

Working perfectly so far
Got this because I wanted to test out an old 3.5" HDD that I thought was dead. Sadly, it was dead. But I have successfully been using this with a couple 2.5" HDDs for the past few days, and it's been working beautifully. I'm glad to be able to read any 3.5" drives as well as I come across them. The versatility is very useful.
