Took time to make it work, but it’s useful
I had a really hard time getting this to work. I tried following the directions, but it just pulled my yarn out of my tufting gun over and over. I ended up uninstalling it then reinstalling it completely, and somehow I did it right the second time despite doing basically the same thing lol. So I recommend reinstalling it if you’re having issues.Overall, once I got it to work, it’s been great. It’s definitely made my tufting sessions go a lot faster since it cuts out the intermittent detangling I was doing before.

Not worth it TO ME
Did not assist with the issue I was having whatsoever. Very nicely built. It just didn’t help with the tension.

Great tool!
This accessory makes tufting 1,000 times easier. Anyone who has dealt with yarn snags and tangles, or the yarn pulling out of the tufting gun halfway through a color, knows how obnoxious reloading can be. For such a compact, low-cost device, this tangle tamer makes a huge difference in the creative process, so you can focus on making your best rugs without the logistics getting in the way. 10/10, a must-have for tufting artists.

Still trying to get the hang of using it but does what it is supposed to do just need the right amount of space to be able to rig it up work right

Impossible to attach to the aluminium frame.
The bolt provided is too narrow to stay in the groove of the aluminium frame making it impossible to attach to the frame. The washer does not fit on the bolt either so it is useless to me .

So useful
I recently started tufting, and I quickly realized how important it is to avoid tangles. Thankfully, there was a helpful video guide, because I wasn’t using it correctly at first. The tension adjustment is very useful, and the price is reasonable. While it's not absolutely necessary, now that I've used it, I can't imagine tufting without it. It's become an essential part of my rug-making process.

A step up from eye hooks on a frame for routing yarn
When I saw this on Amazon I immediately knew I wanted to get it--I've worked with smaller versions for thread on my longarm quilt machine and they make a big difference. My husband built a tufting frame for me and I told him there wasn't a need for the upper arm things on the left that's so prevalent in designs because I had this cool gadget.I had him install it at the top left of my frame (see photo).I'm not sure about how the hardware that comes with it is supposed to be used because it didn't have instructions for that part. He used the screw that came with it but I was concerned that with only one point to secure it that it would rotate and get out of place, so he added a second screw to make it sure it didn't move.I'm pretty new to tufting, but I quickly got a bit frustrated with the tension discs because whenever I stopped tufting and went to move the gun, the yarns would pull out due to the amount of tension from the discs. I kept loosening them but it didn't seem to make much difference. The thread path portion of the tamer is absolutely wonderful, and MILES above an eye hook! It's super easy to put the thread through but doesn't add too much resistance. While you can thread the yarn through without having to take it out of the gun, it doesn't jump out of the thread path holder part so it's the best of all worlds: easy to thread but the yarn stays.I was using two yarns which may have made the tension discs pull too much, but either way I'm really happy with this device. I'll keep playing with it as I continue learning more about tufting.
