simple and efficient design
Before purchasing this motor i searched different option and finally i decided to buy this. After using it for a weekend on my paddle board i am happy with my decision. It is very easy to install, only two small holes in the fin and that is all.You can move it from one paddle board to another or to a kayak making those two nearly invisible holes on each paddle board fin. The box with the controller and the battery can be attached to the paddle using the bungee on top of it.There is no need of more speeds, the one it has is the right one and no need to have a lower speed or backward. It starts so slowly that you don't loose the equilibrium. It is a very simple design. It use standard batteries of RC cars and it comes with adapters so you can choose different batteries. You can keep two batteries inside the box in case you want to do a long trip.I purchased a 6500 mA 4S battery and after one hour and a half of continuous use of about 1 hour the voltage went from 16.7 volts to 13.8 volts so they last a lot and the system is very efficient. It is very fun to go against the wind and don't have to do so much effort. There are a few things that can be improved as the bag for the remote that it is not waterproof. I recommend to buy another better. I wish they include the aluminum support 1 inch longer with three holes so you have more options to make the fin holes in different positions because for the shape of the fin it can happen that you will have to make to holes too close or too far from the paddle board. The charger it is only for 3S batteries so if you decide to buy a 4S to extend the range you will need to buy one.In general my comment is very positive because the functionality, the possibility of moving it from one paddle to other, the standard batteries and the price. After a few months I installed it in a folding Kayak. It works perfectly. The battery in the kayak last about one hour of continuous use. The hermetic box can keep two batteries inside, so i can switch from one to another and I extend the use up two hours. I had to contact to the seller and the their quality of service is excellent.

Impressive and Simple
Quality is A+ is my opinion. Very clean, sturdy construction. Its very hard to believe someone actually received one that looks like the review on here with those pics. I call BS on that one. Hater/competitor? Theres next to nothing to install it - drilled holes and screwed it onto my skeg in about a minute. Using it on an Intex Excursion Pro K2 inflatable kayak. Bought a GOLDBAT 5200mAh 3S 11.1V 80C LiPo battery ($26+ with tax). Charging the battery to 12.6v with the included charger took a handful of hours. Charger is what it is, but suffices. Ran it on the kayak for the first time today, non-stop for almost an hour. Went north for 30 minutes on the Fox River in Illinois (against current/headwind 12-14mph), mostly ran about 2mph, and immediately returned south the same distance - took about 25 minutes reaching 2.5mph often. Battery went from 12.6v to 10.6v (max I want to go down to for the batterys health sake). Did not notice any loss of power. This is all I was after with this toy and if this all lasts at least a a couple seasons or more its WELL worth it. All in all - Kayak, accesories, motor, battery, etc.. about $450.

Horrible Quality, but It works
The media could not be loaded. I was skeptical about this item, and after I opened it and saw the quality, I was even more skeptical. The quality of this item is embarrassing. I cannot believe they send it out like this. I wasn't even sure that it would work but it does. I've used it for the last 4 kayak fishing trips and it works fine without and problems. I use the larger batteries and as a full-size man, it seems like it provides a consistent 2-3mph pace. I'd love to have another one, but the quality of this one makes me scared to take another gamble.

Works well, some minor improvements would add that last star
For the price, this is great. Some details were missed.I used Ovonic 3S 8000mAh batteries with no issues. For battery life sake, I would not run them below 10.5 volts. Still able get a solid hour run time out of each battery. There is a noticeable speed change as the voltage drops but it is super convenient to have the voltage display on the top of the battery box.In retrospect, 4S batteries would be better. The 3S are just slow for a 10'6" board with a 275lb person on it and fishing gear.Turning on the motor from a standstill while standing on the board is easy to manage. There is not a sudden surge of thrust that will knock you off balance. It's a great supplement to actually paddling and helps keep your speed up when covering long distances. What could be improved:Would love for the controller and remote to have a reverse drive capability. The included 3S charger is slow and would get extremely hot during charging. Ambient air temperature was about 85F and the exterior of the charger housing was uncomfortable to hold more than 5 seconds. I used my Ovonic charger with no problems. The pre-drilled piece of aluminum angle for mounting the thruster housing to the fin had burrs and sharp edges. These needed to be trimmed and removed prior to installation else you risk damage to skin or equipment.Instead of standard hex nuts, aero/lock nuts should be provided to avoid loose screws. The thruster motor will vibrate and eventually come loose if proper fasteners are not used.Despite my complaints, this is a great assembly of items to add to your paddling experience.
