This is a review of Cortex International The Collection 1" Solid Ceramic Ionic & Far-Infrared Flat Iron | Adjustable Temperature, Dual Voltage, LED Indicator (Crimson)This curling iron just doesn’t work on my long, thick hair. I’ve tried ironing thick strands and ironing thin strands. I’ve tried a lower temperature and I’ve tried a higher temperature. I’ve tried flattening the hair and I’ve tried using the iron to make curls (which is what I do with my old flat iron). I don’t know why this flat iron does nothing for my hair.The listing advertises an “LED indicator for precise control,“ which I had assumed meant there would be a readout, let’s say, that would tell what temperature the plates were at. But no, there is nothing like that. There are simply two little lights that sometimes come on, one green dot and one red dot. The user guide doesn’t say what the green light is for. It does say the red light means the iron is hot. In my tests of the iron, I tried it when the light was red and when the light was green.About the color: Since the name of the color is “crimson,” I expected a deep red, crimson. Crimson is defined as a deep, slightly purplish, red. Instead the color is more like a rust red . . . a very nice, rich color, just not crimson red.For travel, note that there is no way to lock the ends closed, so I would use a hair elastic to keep the ends closed in my luggage. I have not been overseas to try the dual voltage. But even when I do a major travel, this flat iron isn’t going with me. It is not worth the space and weight in my luggage. I cannot recommend this flat iron. At the moment it is getting 2 stars because surely there is somebody’s hair it can work for and it does have a couple good features. But I may reconsider and decide two stars to be too high . . . if I can find a female who will let me try it on her (my husband said no no no), I’ll let you know what happens.

My daughter bought me one for Christmas years ago. I love it. I’ve had it for many yrs. Finally decided to buy one for my travel. Less bulkier than my curling iron .
