Works perfectly!
This is an excellent choice to connect a smart tv with powered speakers and a powered subwoofer for a really nice sound system.

It works!
I needed an apparatus to be able to hook up my Vizio TV screen to my receiver so I could use my speakers. My receiver only had RCA connections and no HDMI connection so I needed this adapter which was easy to hook up and works beautifully. The price was great compared to the $179 one recommended by on-line help at an electronics company. A bonus is this one doesn't have to be plugged into a wall electrical outlet but hooks up to my TV for power which is what I wanted. I have had it hooked up for a couple of weeks so I can't comment on longevity.

Works as intended, MUST use good power supply
I got this because I am using powered monitors for TV audio in my bedroom. Normally you would use an audio interface on a desk to adjust the volume, but since I'm using it with a TV I need to be able to control the volume with a remote. I only want to use one remote with my TV, so either a fire stick or roku remote with volume control. This device comes into play because it plugs into the ARC port, which allows the TV to send a volume control signal to it. The adapter has RCA L/R as well as a headphone jack that can be controlled via the volume control on a TV remote over ARC. Note that SPDIF (optical) only carries a digital signal and is not controllable via TV volume output.Testing this device with an LG TV using a fire stick input on HDMI 1 and a short HDMI cable connected to HDMI 2 (ARC) connected to the audio extractor seems to work as expected. Adjusting the volume on the LG remote sends a signal to the audio extractor and changes the volume output on both the RCA and headphone jack. I'm using RCA to connect my powered monitors. Another use case can be to connect the RCA outputs to a small amplifier and use that to power a set of bookshelf speakers. Both setups allow for a full wall mounted setup with no receiver needed, perfect for a bedroom with limited space. My main problem with this device and the reason for 4 stars is that you cannot use a low quality USB power adapter. I tried all my phone chargers, usb chargers, and even power banks. Since there is an amplifier creating the RCA and headphone output, it uses the 5V input to power itself. The internal power supply is very poor at filtering, so you can actually hear the internal switching of low quality USB chargers. I ended up using the USB output of my TV to power it, but I would much rather be able to control it via 120V. So keep in mind that if you can plug in headphones and hear static or other noises with no HDMI connection, you will need a different source of power. And just because a charger is high quality doesn't mean that it is a clean 5V for powering audio devices.

Seen it back right away.
As far as I can tell the ark box has never worked . I had to stop trying to get it to work because I had hip surgery. I have been trying different amps to see if it would work,,but no it not working. Because waited so long I feel I'm stuck with it .

Easy install. Works great. I was using my headphone jack from my stereo to my Ruko tv but for some reason it stopped working. The headphone jack in the tv was defective. So I purchased this adapter plugged it in and instant stereo! Now be aware that the HDMI cable is not included so that a extra expense. So when you purchase this unit make sure you purchase the HDMI cable also. Plus make sure your tv has a arc port. Now with that being said the headphone jack is the cheapest and easiest way to go. Just get a cord that plugs into your RCA jacks and the other end will plug into your tv headphone jack. You can do that for under 10 bucks. But this product works great but it's going to cost around 35 bucks when all is done. I do recommend this product.

Cheap Chinese Cookie Cutter Design that has Interference with Lutron Dimmer!
Let me first say that the sound quality is great. I was done with my optical cable quest, and I was looking for a way to directly connect my HDMI devices to my Hegel H190 amp via a coaxial cable, and this device does that, well, most of the time. When it was connected to my Sony A8F OLED TV, it worked until you turned the TV off. The next time TV was on, there would be no sound. I had to go to the TV settings, change the speaker from External Audio to TV speakers, and then revert it back for the sound to come out again. A few days later, I accidentally found that if I press the TV MUTE button immediately after it’s turned on, the sound would restore without needing to go through the settings. So, I programmed my Harmony Remote to change TV’s device startup sequence to simulate a MUTE button after turning ON with a delay of 2 seconds in between. It works great, finally!Regarding Tendak brand, I am not convinced it’s 100% original. I checked their website, and this product was not listed. I also bought another no-name Chinese brand from Amazon called XLHVTERLI, albeit cheaper, and they look exactly the same to the “T” as shown in pictures. I even opened both boxes, and their boards are exactly the same with same components and matching numbers. So, probably Tendak ordered these from a supplier and just paid for the logo print. As I mentioned earlier, sound quality is amazing. I tried many different optical cables including the more expensive glass fiber optical cables, and there was always something missing. I wasn’t happy with the sound rendition with any of them. This device extracts the audio right from the source, and If paired with a coaxial cable, the sound is very satisfying. Just remember sweet length for coax cable is 1.5m as scientifically proved by an article from Empirical Audio because of the reflection jitters of SPDIF protocol. As for the build quality, I see no difference between this Tendak and XLHVTERLI brand, so get whatever is cheaper. Thanks for reading, and YMMV.*** Update (October 2019) ***I recently noticed that these units have interference with my Lutron Casetta Wireless Dimmer Switches. The sound starts to cut and stutter frequently when the dimmer switch turns half way up. Very annoying. I tried to replace the power adapter and used different cables, but nothing helped. Finally I ordered a different product, 192Kbps DAC Converter, and that one does not have this interference problem.
