Ratio watches - designed in Italy, manufactured in Singapore. Great quality!
In the words of the manufacturer Ratio, represented by the Pi logo, the most famous of all ratios, "The premise was simple – to make quality watches with exceptional craftsmanship, materials, and attention to detail rivaling the big watch brands. At a price point that is accessible."I did my due diligence and researched the Net, visited the company's website, read and listened to many reviews. Everyone of them confirmed the claims of the manufacturer. This watch does have great fundamentals at this price point. This model is the entry-level dive watch, rated at 200m water resistance depth. The company makes watches rated up to 1000m depth, with a helium escape valve, a prerequisite for professional saturation divers. The case and bezel made from 316L stainless steel. The bezel is a 120-click, unidirectional unit with built-in grips and etched graduation for depth time measurement. The case has a screw-down case-back which has the figure of a diver etched at the centre with the watch's attributes around the circumference. The case measures 40mm and with the crown, 43mm. The signed crown is at the 4 o'clock position and is flanked by crown-guards as an integral part of the case. The entire case is brush-finished, as a serious tool watch should be.The orange dial provides good contrast to the painted indices and pointers which are lumed. The offset of the central seconds pointer also has a lumed lollipop end.The date window at the 3 o'clock position is easy to read, thanks to the white background.Topping this is a anti-reflective coated sapphire crystal that will be highly resistant to scratches, even if the watch is used on a daily basis. At the heart of this watch is a Seiko Epson VX42E, 32768 Hz quartz movement with an accuracy rating of +/-20 seconds per month. The movement is powered by Renata R371 371 / SR920SW / SG6 / AG6 batteries, with a rated life of 36 months. This movement is also used in other watch brands - Hugo Boss, Danish Design and Seiko's own sister brand, Lorus to name a few.The silicon strap is of a very good quality, perforated for about 37mm in each direction from the case. This should be useful in summer. The signed, brush-finished buckle clasp is also of a superior quality and matches the case finish exactly.I was extremely disappointed with the presentation inside the box for which I hold the seller entirely responsible. I don't know how the watch had found its place NEXT to the designated cushion slot, stuffed face down. The tag which is normally attached to the buckle clasp, was just included separate from the watch. However, both the protective films for the crystal and case-back were intact as also the protective sleeve for the buckle clasp. HENCE, THE THREE STARS.I was not sure how badly the watch was handled before it reached me. On unboxing, it was far from reassuring. I consulted my watch maintenance expert who suggested that I return the watch, which I did with a heavy heart.
