Works way better than I thought it would, even with rocks!
I bought this to make the dirt in my garden plot more workable, after a day for trying to till it up myself with a hand hoe and just about killing myself, I wanted something easier. I looked multiple places online and knew I wanted a battery operated one. I didn’t want to deal with a gas engine, and my plot is to far from the house for a corded one. This is the only kind that was listed on multiple site’s top ten that ws battery powered, and I already have a 40v weed whacked from green works, so the battery should be interchangeable. They were, even though my current battery was 2ah and this tiller comes with a 4ah. The 4ah definitely gives more run time, but having the other smaller one is helpful as a backup. This tiller tore through the top layer of clay in my garden like it was sand. It was amazing. Even tore through quite a few raspberry root wanderers that were trying to invade. I am so happy with the amount of work I can get done without breaking my back. I then took it to my landscaping around the house- which previously was all rocks, and the previous owners left a lot of rocks in there to keep the soil loose, and this tiller still tears it up with no problem. Only once did I have a rock get stuck in just the right place and I had to get a rubber mallet to help me get the tines off and knock the rock out. Each time I stop it I’m amazed at how many roots are wrapped around the tines, but the performance doesn’t change so I have no idea they’re even there! It’s perfect size to get in between my existing plants, but still big enough to get a big job done 1000x faster than by hand. It’s great to mix up the old mulch and mix in new compost. You can also hold it in one place for a bit to dig yourself a nice loose hole for planting something. I even tore through some grassy areas to expand one landscaped area into my yard more.Assembly didn’t take long, however I never figured out what the ring pins were for, so those are being kept in the garage. I will say it is pretty heavy, but not when you’re using it, only if you want to pick it straight up out of the dirt instead of rolling it on the wheels, which I’ve had to do a few times to get over the top of some garden edging.Overall I’m extremely happy with the back breaking work I’ve been able to get done solo without the back breaking part! I need a leaf blower this season, and I’ll def get a green works one that’s compatible with my 40v batteries, such a neat system to have!

Does a good job
Light weight tiller that does a good job. It tilled between the rows in my garden without a struggle for this grandmother in her 70's. I have been impressed with the length of time it ran and my garden had a good bit of weeds to till. It tilled five 30 ft rows before I had to recharge the battery and it recharges in a minimal time. So far, I would say it is well worth the money. My neighbor assembled it for me in less than 15 minutes, but instructions were easy to follow.

Very Good for Cultivating; Convenient, Efficient and Fast
I've waited until nearly the end of the season to post a review here. After reading good and not-so-good reviews, I decided to give it a try. Mostly I made this purchase because my wife needed something she could handle in her strawberry patch that was more easily manageble than our full-sized tiller. I've used it for maintaining my very large vegetable garden. One wouldn't think a battery powered cultivator could work so hard, but it is amazingly powerful. In fact, if you're not careful it will pull you off balance. It digs deeply, quickly and moves right through soil as it should. I haven't found that the charge gets me through the full job as I'd hoped but it lasts about as long as I can, making me take a break in between charges. Assembly was a snap. Components are tough enough where they should be. I deducted one star because the battery fits too snugly and can be tricky removing. I remedied this by spraying silicone into the battery compartment. I'd like to add too that this is not a tiller, it is a cultivator. If you expect this to do the work of a tiller, you're asking it to do more than it is intended and you'll be disappointed. This is for use on already-worked soil to maintain aeration and keeping weeds turned over. My soil is heavy and it handles it fine, but I've amended with compost and sand over the years so it doesn't pack tightly.

works great for small areas
I garden mostly in raised beds and have practiced no-till gardening for decades - until symphylans showed up last year. Now I have to till before every planting.I bought the Greenworks tiller because I have several other GW tools and wanted to share batteries. Also I am satisfied with my other GW tools as well as their customer support. This was easy to use and has enough power for the slightly compacted soil in my raised beds. It easily dug down below 6", after I took the wheels off so it could dig in deeper. The wheels are great for transporting it to the garden and they are easy to adjust the height or remove.I find that by allowing the tiller to crawl itself forward about a foot and then stop its forward motion for about 15 seconds, it digs in deeper and thoroughly tills the soil (and the symphylans). I let it crawl forward another foot and repeat. A few large twigs and egg-sized rocks did not bother it.The assembly instructions are useless. Fortunately it is easy to assemble and if you are halfway intuitive, and look at the picture on the box, you will have no difficulty. There is a pair of large hairpin type connectors in the box, and they are not shown on the parts list, but by reading the poorly written instructions I was able to discern that they are used to hold just the two center discs on for tilling a narrow space.Compared to the cost of other GW cordless tools (with battery included) this one was a real bargain.

Greenworks 40V DC Cultivator
I have a 50 ft x 100 ft garden that I till every year with my TroyBilt Horse rear tine tiller. For weed control and dirt cultivation during the growing season I like using a small cultivator. I have used 4 cycle gas engine cultivators but they don’t last long and require continuous maintenance. I purchased the Greenworks 40V cultivator and to my surprise it is comparable in performance. I bought a second battery and found the two batteries will last long enough to complete a pass on the whole garden.
