Yea, you can just have a camera directly hooked up to the scope (without using an eye piece) and then have the camera hooked up to a laptop or tablet or w/e.

Q: Will this telescope track an object as it moves across the sky? I'm wanting to do 3-5 minute exposures continually for 3+ hours

Yes it will track. Not sure if the tracking is smooth enough for 3 to 5 minute exposures. I have had mixed success with 30 second exposures. The altitude and azimuth motors sometimes seem to go in a step function mode. All in all I am pretty happy with the scope but if I had to do it over again I would get an 8” on an equatorial mount. It would be lighter, more portable, easier to set up on a wet uneven lawn and more accurate tracking

Q: How powerful are the motors on the sides of the tube for tracking purposes? does camera/smartphone weight move it easily?

I noticed that I can generally have exposures of up to 30 seconds or maybe even a minute before blurred lines become an issue, depending on the location of an object. And this is with a Nikon D5100

use a usb telescope camera. send to laptop computer. and then use display clone from the laptop computer output HDMI to the HDMI input port of the projector
