Overall nice multiple use fan
The fan seams to be made pretty well however the mounting area could use a bit more of a update as far as maybe a non slip coating and maybe the screws having a soft coating at the tips. The fan itself makes a little noise but its not to bad and operates really smooth with each setting gradually increasing the speed. If the mounting area was a little heavier you could almost use this fan sitting flush as well but it flips over unless you put something heavier then the fan itself into the mounting area. The function controller also works really well and it has a really decent cord length.

Versatile and Economical Way to Lower your Tank’s Water Temperature
There are two basic ways to lower your aquarium’s water temperature. The most reliable way is also much more expensive and involved to install - an in-line chiller that is essentially an air conditioner for water that passes through tubes in it. A much easier to install and more cost-effective way to lower your tank’s water temperature but a few degrees is to mount a fan on the edge of your tank above the water line and essentially blow on the surface of the water. This method is surprisingly effective and provided the room where your tank is located isn’t too hot, it works really well. This fan is designed to mount on the edge of your tank and aim at the surface of the water to lower its temperature. There is an in-line controller to set the fan speed and optionally set an auto-off timer. The clamps that mount it to your tank may look like they have infinite angle adjustments, but there are fixed angle positions that they can be set for. You’ll need a Philips-type screwdriver to remove the clamps and set their angles. I removed and flipped them so the finger-tightening screws were on the outside of the aquarium.Once you get the angle set the way you like, you just finger-unscrew the clamping nuts, slide the mounts onto the edge of your tank, and snug the clamps up just enough to hold the fan on steady. Next, plug the controller onto the provided AC adapter and the side of the fan and you’re ready to start cooling your tank down. The controller has two buttons and a series of LED lights to indicate status. Press the “On/Off” button to turn on the fan and adjust the fan’s speed which is represented by “Gears” or “GR”. It starts at speed 1 (low) and each press cycles the fan speed up to speed 5 (fastest) and then back to Off. As the fan’s speed increases, so does the breeze, the cooling effect and the audible noise from the fan.The Time button cycles through auto-off settings of 1, 2, 4, or 12 hours with an LED indicating the selection. There’s no indication of how much time is left- just the set time from the moment the button was pressed. Something that was not obvious to me was that you can have no LEDs on which indicates that the fan will stay on continuously which is what I need for my setup.Another nice aspect of this fan is that if you loose power (or unplug the fan), it will resume at the last speed once power is restored (or you plug it back in). Any set timer will be restarted once power is restored, too! I haven’t tested it to confirm whether the timer starts where it left off or restarts, but either way, it’s nice that the fan turns back on and remembers whether it had a timer set. This fan feels light and “basic” but gets the job done. I don’t think it will easily fall off into the tank once properly clamped on and the angle setting is locked in so it won’t accidentally rotate into the tank. The control panel is easy to use for fan speed and auto-off adjustments and it’s really nice that it returns to prior settings if power is lost and then restored. If your tank’s water temperature runs a little high, this is an easy and economical way to cool it down a few degrees.

Pawfly Aquarium Chiller Fan – A Quiet and Efficient Cooling Solution for Your Tank
I purchased the Pawfly Aquarium Chiller Fan to help regulate the temperature in my axolotl tank, and I’ve been extremely pleased with its performance. With temperatures rising, keeping my freshwater tank cool has become more challenging, but this fan has proven to be a game changer.✅ What I Love:Quiet Operation: As someone who keeps the tank in a shared living space, noise was a big concern. I’m happy to report that the fan runs very quietly—even on higher settings. It doesn’t disrupt sleep or background noise.Effective Cooling: The fan does a great job at lowering the water temperature by a few degrees, which can make a big difference for temperature-sensitive species like axolotls. I noticed a consistent drop of 2–4°F within a few hours of running it.Adjustable Speed & Timer: The adjustable speed settings are super useful for fine-tuning based on the day’s temperature. The built-in timer is a nice touch too—it adds peace of mind when I’m away for a few hours and don’t want the fan running non-stop.Easy Installation: The clip-on design made it simple to attach to the tank, and the fan head can be angled for optimal airflow across the water’s surface.Versatile Use: It’s labeled for both freshwater and saltwater tanks, and I can easily see this being useful for terrariums or reef setups as well.❗ Minor Considerations:The fan cools via evaporation, so make sure to top off your tank with dechlorinated water regularly to compensate for water loss. It’s not a full-scale chiller, so if you need to drop the temperature significantly (like 10°F+), you may need a more powerful or supplemental solution.Final Verdict:The Pawfly Aquarium Chiller Fan is an excellent, budget-friendly option for hobbyists looking to keep their aquatic pets cool in warmer weather. It’s quiet, energy-efficient, and easy to use. Perfect for axolotls, bettas, or other tropical and cold-water fish needing a stable environment.Highly recommended!

Needs more power
The way to secure the fan onto the edge of anything is very difficult with the little twisty screws. I wish that it was easier to adjust. It is also a little bit strange that the mechanism to turn the timer on or increase fan speed is another cord attachment that has to be included. I would prefer an all in one. That being said, the fan speed difference was negligible, I could very slightly tell that something changed due to the sound, but I couldn’t feel a difference. I bought this for a patio pond to try to keep it a little cooler for summer but not sure this will be effective.
