Beautiful. Must have Black on Black!
Wow.This is beauty. This is art. This is love. The sides of the stick are metal and feel cool to the touch. It is a great sensation. Feels exactly like an arcade cabinet. You can tell HORI cares about it's products. This is one of the most satisfying purchases I have ever made. I can't believe how durable this thing is. I have played the hell out of SFV over the past 3 months and the stick feels brand new. It's also easy to clean. I spilled some OJ on it, and it caused one of the buttons to stick. You can easily open it up and clean the insides. it's designed to open! However, I have one complaint. This stick does not have a headphone port like the PS4 controllers. It HAS A TRACKPAD, but no headphone port.I was very surprised by this. But, with the VLX, you can't go wrong. This classic design will look great for years to come. I think the BLACK on BLACK is a must have, and if you're a collector - will probably fetch the highest resale value. Black never goes out of style.

unlucky
I'm sure the stick is nice but mine came with 3 small dents that popped out like major defects in any kind of reflection on the metal in the front.it is way too expensive for any defects at all

Great Controller, Crappy Cosmetic Workmanship
This stick is the best. No doubt about that. It's heavy. It does move when I play it, but maybe some play lighter than I do, and I can imagine the stick may not move for them. You must know that there are two Hori sticks. One is black and grey; the other, red and black. The difference is the color, but the real difference is the Hayabusa stick and matching buttons are only in the red and black version (the black-grey version is a Hayabusa stick with Kuro buttons. I tried the Kuro buttons, checking out my friend's stick, and it just doesn't feel good. Some resistance toward the end of pushing the button -- feels like you spilled soda on them. For those who love the black and grey look, I feel for you.In terms of cosmetics, Hori must lose a full star. I wish the red wasn't so candy red, but I understand this may be part of Japanese DNA to make everything cutesy, rather than bad ass. I also personally think if you are going to have plastic on anything expensive, it at least needs to be matted and offer some scratch resistance. Or, why even use plastic at all? I'd pay an extra $50 for an all-metal version. I'm more an Apple phone personality solely because metal feels and looks good, compared to a plastic chassis that squeaks when you grab the rails. It's the reason Samsung finally caught up to the iPhone 3, going the non-removeable, glass or metal chassis way. Welcome to 2010, Samsung!Anyway, speaking of Hori's poor choice of plastic on the side edges and rear edge, this company exacerbates the problem by actually offering a dented product. Japanese perfectionism has failed us, for shame. Don't expect Jiro Ono's strive for the perfect method of roasting seaweed as the "shokunin" force behind the making of this fight stick. These controllers have three dints peppered across the metal, frontal edge closest to you. There's a hairline crack right outside the box that contains a series of buttons, including the PS button or the PS3/PS4 switch. I was going to return both Hori controllers, but I realize if it is on both controllers in exactly the same places, new controllers will probably have the same uninspired workmanship. I can't understand how any company can feel it's okay to send a dinged, cracked unit, and be okay with that as normal.I don't feel people need to cancel their romantic honeymoon with their new purchase, but let's assume you do get past it like I did, the plastic chamber that holds the cord is a nice idea, but cheap beyond belief. You open and close this door, and one side always snaps in while the other side stays unsnapped. This will work on the hinge, and I believe in time the door will wear and tear to a point it won't close well. Perhaps they should have placed a decent magnet to close the plastic cord chamber.I will restate. This controller does work great. The stick sometimes gets super sensitive, but I think that mainly has to do with the emulator's relationship with the controller. I play SFV and the combos are coming out beautifully. Compatibility is a high probability to work perfect with whatever you use it with. I use it with Windows 7, Raspberry Pi, PS3 (1st gen and 3rd gen), and PS4. Some issues I'm having is getting Raspberry Pi to accept two controllers, not just one. That also seems like a software issue unrelated to Hori. It also works for PS3, but not with Street Fighter Anniversary edition. My guess is because it's a ps2 game. I have an old and new school PS3. I'm still figuring everything out.I hope this helps.

The best of the best...
I was never an arcade stick kind of guy even though i owned a few cabinets in my time. I recently bought a sega virtua stick (hss-0136) and it was good but i modded it and learned how good an Seimitsu ls-56 joystick can actually make playing games better and i bought a virtua stick pro (hss-0130) after and loooved the Seimitsu ls-32 joysticks since they were much better at shmups and in general.i heard the buttons on both were generic soldered crap buttons but i did not care. After a while I noticed the hori vlx prem and I thought I would give it a chance....boy what an amazing arcade stick... larger than the virtua stick and smaller than the virtua stick pro.the buttons were very responsive and the joystick felt like the ls-32 and the extra r3 l3 butons were perfect for mapping coin and start or service mode etc.My pc with windows 10 picked up the controller and knew exactly what it was.it is absolutely gorgeous in person and very heavy too.playing mame and demul and retroarch never ever felt this good.having the taito licence makes it look that much better and feels more authentic. This stick is a must buy.

Both versions now come with hayabusa buttons.
Great arcade stick. Just one note: I bought the black on black/kuro version on june 19 and received it on june 21 from Amazon and it came with hayabusa buttons, not kuro buttons. (Hayabusa buttons are the newest buttons from hori). So buy whichever version you think looks the best.

This stick is a tank!
Had this a few years now. Easy to open up and swap out buttons or the lever. Still going strong.
