Lindberg 1:60 Scale Shrimp Boat Model Kit

I'm fortunate and patient - I watched Amazon for over a month and suddenly found this for a total price of less than ten dollars. Even so, I would pay more for this nice kit. I built this same kit in the early 1970s, and it hasn't changed. The castings are heavy, and any lack of detail can be made up for with a little Internet research and patient attention. My kit went together perfectly - all parts were well cast, with very little flash.This model represents a boat from perhaps the 1950s or 1960s, and I wanted something more modern (this is the blue and white model in the photo section). I replaced the kit net booms with scratch built cantilever booms that were closer to scale length, made from bamboo barbecue skewers and wire. I built six pulleys to hold the lines to the booms and nets. The nets were created from fifty-cent hair nets from the drug store. I added some spare ropes and lines, made a radar dome and mast, and a ladder for the rear boom. The boat was brush painted with oil-base model paints and weathered with inexpensive acrylics. This will become part of a boatyard display on a model railroad.This kit is a great introduction for new modelers, but can turn out very nice for more experienced builders willing to put in the time and attention. I may buy it again if I find a sale!

Der Bausatz ist einfach gehalten und für einen Anfänger durchaus machbar. Leider ist die Passgenauigkeit nicht so gut, sodas man ein paar modellbauerisch Tricks anwenden muss. Event. sollte man einige Teile die sehr grob gefertigt wurden noch einmal neu bauen oder durch Ätzteile ersetzen. Aber im Großen bin ich sehr zufrieden und er wird nach vielen kleinen Verfeinerungen ein gutes Bild bei der F4c Klasse machen

Do not buy this boat the major parts are wrapped. They will not go together without clamps plus the boat looks like it was left for salvage. It's a waste of good money.

This a gift and I must say he loved it!. He literally started it that night. He even bought multiple brushes to get really detailed when painting and putting it all together! Great gift for all ages.
