Bell 7091040 Flat Defense Mountain Bike Tire, 26" x 1.75-2.125", Black, 26" x 1.75-2.125"

Needed new tires for an old mtn bike to use as a spare. My bike mechanic recommended these and they installed well and look great. The tread is a good all-around compromise for bike path and trail.

Purchased as previous front tire for my bike was dangerously low on tread. As I ride more on streets and paved trails now as opposed to dirt trails, the flatter profile of the treds was appealing. Have used now for a summer and a half, holds up well. Would change the back tire as well except it still has a good tread left!

Just a wonderful bike tire that I can ride on all day. it has nice rubber and all ,recommend to all .

We seem to have had fairly good experiences with this brand, and made repeated purchases. However, the brand seems to be prone to puncture by sharp spines on plants. Perhaps all or most tires would also be prone to this. The tires were not used off-trail, but just momentarily off bike paths to avoid pedestrians, other bikers.

This is cool...I am writing this bike tire review at 7:31pm on 6/15/23 and I bought these tires on Amazon THE SAME DAY at 8:30am! I was able to find the tires on Amazon, buy them, receive them in the afternoon, install them after dinner and then go for a quick ride around 7pm! I really like these tires since they are a blend of low cost, cool tread pattern, modest weight, and excellent flat protection. They are not very lightweight but there is always a trade-off. If I wanted weight-weenie tires, I would have kept the Bontrager racing tires that were already on my Technium. But, I wanted peace of mind while riding, not superior weight savings. I actually have previous experience with these tires on my 700c city bike, and they've held up nicely. My only 2 complaints would be overall weight (but, again...what would you expect for flat protection tires?) and they were a little persnickety to get onto my 26" rims (I actually broke a plastic tire lever in the process). Besides these 2 things, I love them!

It's a bike tire

This tire was extremely undersized. While labeled a 26”, it was by far the hardest to get on the rim. Once assembled, it was very thing and looked goofy on the mountain bike. I took to long to install so I cannot return it and while I tried to save a few bucks by going with the tire, it was a complete waste. I purchased the billy coat for a few dollars more and am extremely pleased. This is not a mountain or trail tire. I also got a flat in a bike park, where no flats come from thorns. So much for the flat defense.

Does what it is supposed to do. Been riding on them a couple of months now and they still hold up great.
