Aenir (The Seventh Tower #3)

Good story about magic jewels and spirits
This is a story that takes me back to my youth. I remember when I had dreams after reading book six, feeling like I was in the world. Garth Nix builds a very captivating world, and I finished reading this series for the second or third time right after I graduated from university with a BA. In this world, there are two groups of humans. One group lives in a castle and there is a heirarchy of lower class citizens who don't have mastery over light and higher ranked people who have magical stones that allow them to wield different colors of light, and there is another group of humans that live out on the ice.

This Great Series Continues
Aenir is the third part of this six volume series by Garth Nix. In this part Tal and Milla journey through the dream world of Aenir to find the Codex, a book that Tal needs to help rescue his father and save his family. As with the previous two books, the author develops the relationship between Tal and Milla, two people that thought they had nothing in common. Here, they realize that, in fact, they are more alike than they are different. The experiences that they have had together have made them both realize that they can never go back to their former way of life, Tal as a Choosen of the castle and Milla as an Ice Carl girl in the dark frozen world outside the castle. Nix's character development is superb. However, the descriptive narrative is limited, I think, in part due to the age group the book is targeted to (9-12). I think he under estimates his audience in this regard. In spite of that, the book is well written and my 10 year old son can not wait for the fourth book to be published. If fact, neither can I.

Excellent
I am an avid reader of science fiction, fantasy, romance and historical novels. I found this entire series to be exceptional. I am an adult and these seemed to be written for a younger generation but I could not put these books down!If you would like some light fantasy reading that is different from many of the books out there, then this is for you.

Book 3 of the Seventh Tower Series
Aenir is book 3 of the Seventh Tower series by Garth Nix. Don’t read this on until you have read the first two as the the Seventh Tower series is one continuous story. In this installment Tal discovers what lies above the Veil, and more of the nature of Spiritshadows.Enjoyable. Nix answers some questions, but introduces more questions such as the nature of the Codex. Looking forward to the next book
