Tiger

I recently met a real tiger close up. This book assisted me in my interactions with my tiger friend. Putting the life of tigers into context with human existence helped immensely. I saw each attribute described in this book demonstrated by my new 440 lb. friend. Conservation of habitat is the key. This book should be in every school library as reference material.

My third book by Valmik Thapar. Well written. Lots of data and supportive information. Must book for Tiger lovers.

This is part of a series that is very hard to find from publishers. I am a media center clerk at an elementary school library and the "Tiger" volume was one we did not have for this series that I was sure the children would love. It's being checked out every week since I purchased it. Thanks!

This is a wonderful book for those interested in tigers and wildlife. It is comprehensive, which is what i liked the most about it. It has the views of many different experts on various aspects. In addition to describing a tiger's life, it also explains the impact of the tiger on our culture. The tiger's influence on the arts, and is loaded with great pictures. If you like tigers, then order this book!

A wonderful book to read...was thinking it was a photo-pictorial book of tigers and was a little disappointed.

The beautiful and unique images of tigers captured in the wild were breathtaking. I found the format of this book interesting and useful in acquiring reliable knowledge about Patera tigris and related species, though this book is not oriented for the scientific community. Mr. Thapar has revealed some aspects of tiger behavior that very much suprised me... and I hold a degree in Biology. The author tends to end the book on a dark personal note underscoring the tiger's grim future, but I don't think anyone with an interest in animal conversation would mind Mr. Thapar's effort to impart to us his tireless passion for these critically endangered big cats.

Having a great love and passion for the tiger I am yet to find a more comprehensive book on the subject. This book is expertly compiled and consists of all facts regarding tigers. It starts with evolution and origins of the tiger, anatomy of the tiger, its life and conflict with man and other big cats, as well as the myths and ancient world of the tiger. Brilliantly compiled, laid out and documented. Highly recommended for all tiger lovers or those interested in the big cats. Includes exceptional photography of the tiger in its natural habitat.

Valmik is THE man when it comes to Tigers. His passion comes out in every book and documentary he has made.I love his stories of random tiger behaviour he has seen in the wild.Sad at times but a stark reminder that tigers must be saved in the wild, without exception.
