Are these completely plain on the outside or is there a company name/ embossment of any type?

No they are completely plain both inside and out .

When you open each page flat, it won’t rip or tear will they?

The notebooks are really good, made with fairly heavy-duty paper so unlikely to tear or rip.

These look a lot like the Moleskine notebooks. How similar are they?

Never had a moleskin book before but I can say these are good quality sturdy and good quality paper ideal handbag size and would buy them again
