Can this hold a thick box cutter in the back pocket?

Hello, the back pocket is 3 inches wide, and 5 1/4 inches deep. I tried my box cutter, which is 1.38 inches (35mm) wide, 0.6 inches (15mm) thick, 6.4 inches long. After inserting this box cutter in the pocket, there is still room for a thick marker. Please measure yours, compared with mine, and see if yours fits the back pocket.

Are the pen slots elastic or stretchy?

Hello, it's not made of elastic or stretchy material. The first slot is designed for a regular pencial, the 2/3/4 slots are designed for regular pen, the 5th slot is designed for a regular marker or a small utility knife. Hope this answer helps.

If the diameter of your click hi liter is less than 12mm, it may fit in the 2nd/3rd/4th/5th front pen pocket The first pen pocket is designed for a regular pencil or a slender pen, it may not fit a click hi liter. The click hi liter can also fit in the back pouch if the front pen pockets don't work. The back pouch may hold 5 click hi liters.

Is fabric hard or soft? I am looking for soft material.

The material is durable polyester fabric. I would say more hard then soft. This product has done me well.
