No, it is a gel pack, not beads.

How long does it remain cold?

It’s never been cold for me (when i need pain relief) even after a week in the fridge. It’s very cool but does not last long. 15 minutes and I need to get a real ice hat. I use one of the other ice hats I bought on Amazon (much colder). If you need it to be cold maybe not for you but if you’re ok with cool even for a short time, this might be ok.

Not effective

I bought the cap for cooling the head after chemotherapy. The cap fits will but the inner material is very warm and so the gel packs melt very soon and it does not really cool the head.
