Can the two-piece model actually be screwed together forming one movable piece? Or are they just placed next to each other giving the illusion of one?

This table is ONE PIECE. In the directions you will see how all of it is put together, into one table. And yes, it is movable that way. I don't think there is any way to place the round part and the square part next to each other as an illusion, and not connected. One reason why I bought this table was because it is all one piece. Easily movable. And very unique. I LOVE IT!!! Hope this answers your question!!!

Does the larger table have a wood shelf or metal mesh... So many conflicting info and pictures. I want wood only with no mesh. Also...it clearly shows

All the shelves on this table are wooden, or at least manufactured wood. Not mesh. It is a very strong and sturdy item. I still love mine!!
