My 2 studs are not centered on the wall above the fireplace. Can I screw the bolts off center on the wall plate?

Can this work in an RV?

Hello, If you have enough space for the mount, then it will work in an RV. However, there currently isn't a locking mechanism. The mount is controlled by tension and gas springs. While I can't suggest using it in an RV, I will say that we've had customers report that their MantelMounts and TVs survived the recent earthquake in Alaska (2018 7.0 magnitude). :D -MantelMount Team
