Shop-Vac 3942000 5 Gallon 4.0 Peak HP Wall Mount Wet/Dry Vacuum

Got this vac to replace the Craftsman wall mount vac in my garage when the motor burned out after 5 years. This is basically the same vac as the Craftsman. (Sears no longer sells this model.) The vac mounted easily and has good suction. It is quieter than my old vac. The hose is long enough to allow me to vacuum my car without removing the unit from the wall. The wall mount has a lip on top that holds the hose but it is only tall enough to handle one loop of hose so unless the unit is mounted fairly high on the wall the hose will be on the floor.The reason I almost gave it 4 stars is because it is impossible to figure out which replacement bag to order before you get the unit. Even after you get the unit it is not readily apparent which replacement bag you should buy. The model number on the bag that comes with the unit does not match any model on sale on the Amazon website. The bag that you need is model 91932, which is $8.92 FOR ONE BAG! I ordered model #90661 (5 bags for $9.99) which states it fits all models of 5 gallon vacs, but it is a different shape. I tried it out and it seems to work just fine.Overall I think this is an excellent vac and I highly recommend it!

It's a very good solution for garage, wall mounting is a great feature, but is not a great vacum. Buy it to use it in my woodwoorking hobby shop, for the small hand power tool (for the big ones such planer and jounter I use a dust collector). It seem like a good idea, because it can be wall mounted neard to my working table, and just hook up to the tools. But the sucking power is very weak, tried to use it with the dewalt compact router, using the dewalt dust port atachment, and only about 50% of the dust is collected by the shop vac. Same happened with the random orbital sander... havent tried with the circular saw, but I think is gonna be the same

I bought this to replace a Craftsman model by Shop-Vac that hung on the wall. I had for many years and the motor burned out. I could not find a replacement motor so I "had to move on'. While I really became attached to it, it was time to look at something different This model has the same functionality, filter, attachments etc. While there was another model that caught my eye, I went with this one as it is easy to get parts for in Sears, Lowes, etc. I DO like the slimmer profile and the fact that the inlet is on the side. It is also nice that the wall bracket also doubles as a hose bracket.SAME GREAT POWER as the old one even though it it rated .5 HP less.This is a good model. You can't go wrong. I added extra hose to make it about 21 feet It has works great.One small "Con" like another reviewer mentioned is the on-off switch. A bit small for this vacuum and covered with a clear plastic protector. Works but could be better, NOT A SHOW STOPPER however

I like this Shop-Vac, it has plenty of power and has a small foot print when hanging on the wall. I do wish it came with a longer hose 18' is just not long enough. My garage is 20' deep and the hose will not reach the far side of my garage while the vac is on the wall. I mounted the vac at the entrance to my garage and it also would not reach the cargo area of My Jeep while parked in the driveway. I had to buy an extension hose http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002YLRE1G/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_7 but that only added 8' and just now reaches the cargo area while the Jeep is in the driveway. A 30' hose option would be great. Overall this is a great little unit.

I like the wall mount option and is the reason I bought this. Wall mounting is easy and works as advertised. When I first turned this on the noise was ridiculously loud. I noticed that the air port on the side where the hose connects is the culprit. You have to play around with the connection and once you do it sounds like a normal shop vac. The problem for me is I actually had to use tape around it as I noticed when I extended the hose all the way it would move and an unbearable loud noise would come back. The noise actually hurts my ears. As for build quality, the hose and attachments are made from very cheap thin plastic. I was going to return but instead moved it from my workshop to garage as it doesn't get used as much as it would in the workshop. I originally was thinking of buying a second one and I will at some point but it won't be this one.

Vacuum was shipped with no protection,so I'm sure it was bounced around pretty good. When I went to use it with the hose hooked up It was so loud the dogs were howling,not just loud,ear piercing, high pitched hurt your ears loud! Very disappointing,returned that product right away!

These are great vacs. Replaces one just like it that I ruined vacuuming fireplace ash with a regular filter. All that carbon going thru an electric motor is not good. Bought a HEPA cartridge and Bag Liners in order to take better care of this one. Nice long hose and bracket keeps it up and out of the way. Loud but sucks like a champ!Update on this one. 12-28-15 Paper filter filled up. Opened package of suggested filters and they are totally wrong. Bought thru Amazon, too late they say to return. Do not buy any suggested component until you do your own research. 3rd Time I have been hosed now by Amazon fulfilled items. They don't or have no check and balance in place to verify something even as simple as ordering an XL pair of socks and their shipping Mediums, not once but multiple times on the replacements. Not to mention this "suggested" paper filter! Still the best wall vacuum and still the biggest retailer? without Quality Assurance and controls.
