How do you purge the charging hose of air?

The yellow hose is typically used for charging. The yellow hose goes to the container on one end of the hose. The other end is connected to the guage manifold. Slightly loosen the hose end connected to guage manifold and slightly open the container. You will hear gas escaping from hose end. Tighten hose and charging line is purged of air and only refrigerant is in that line

What kind of seals are in the hoses

Cheap Chinese ones I switched mine to Yellow Jacket immediately upon purchase no leaks very satisfied if you over tighten it you will bend the support or wall inside of the hose connection that supports the seal all you have to do is gently snug them up so that they just barely kiss and that kiss is enough to have a leak free connection under pressure or vacuum

You can buy a pack of them at a refrigeration supply store or perhaps order them from Amazon
