Junket Rennet Tablets 0.23oz Box (8 Tablets)

My wife and I were at dinner with some octogenarian friends when one mentioned the product which I had never heard of. Her mother had used it to make quick pudding like desserts for the family back in the day. She hadn’t been able to find it so of course I searched Amazon and there it was and at a reasonable price. I immediately made the first listed recipe (the box of tablets has a great little foldout paper with lots of recipes!) and within an hour or so I tasted my first milk pudding. Easy to make but make sure you have a good thermometer or a great knack for what lukewarm milk means!I highly recommend the product.

Getting harder to find this stuff anymore. Grandmom always made it for us as kids so it's a great memory.

Great product! Can use for cheese as well as other uses.

These were a waste of my money. They did not do what they were suppose to. I was trying to make cheese which I have done many times before using Junket tablets. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

Directions read like it will be difficult to make but actually it was kind of fun. I made it for my partner for his birthday because he had fond memories of his mother making it for him. I never had it before and honestly don’t like it but it made him so happy. I ate one dish of the pudding and he ate the other 6 or 7 servings. I made several more batches for him to enjoy.

I recently decided get back into making cheeses at home again after not having done so for some years.Saw good ol' reliable Junket tablets on sale here and bought them. They were in date and undamaged.Followed the recipe as written, and was surprised to find the milk did not coagulate as it was supposed to. The recipe called for half a tablet. I ended up having to use a tablet and a half to get the curd right.I couldn't understand why. Then I happened to see the side of the Junket box. The ingredients list and label claims that it contains rennet, which is an animal product that is very effective. This stuff they sent is no longer the reliable rennet it used to be- now it's a weak-a$$ vegetable "rennet" that barely does what it's supposed to.I wouldn't have bought it if they had been honest about what is actually in the box. It's vegetable rennet, which is weaker than traditional rennet. They really should be labeling it as such, instead of misleading people who are expecting the product it used to be. I won't buy this again. It's not a good deal when you have to use three times as much to get the job done.Update: I notice that they now have pictures of all sides of the box shown. When I ordered, only the front was pictured. Maybe the sellers do actually read reviews. Who knew?
