Accurate information, please! the cylinder itself says 7lb/3 kg. the description says 3lb, so which is it?

The TW (tare weight) and T (tare, same thing) at the top of the bottle collar refer to the weight of the empty bottle and valve assembly. The WC (water capacity) at the collar bottom tells you the volume of incompressible liquid (eg. water) the bottle can hold, and how much that water would weigh all by itself. The mix of avoirdupois, imperial, and metric systems is never confusing, as anyone who worked on the original Hubble telescope project could certainly tell you. Propane is filled into the bottle as a liquid under pressure at a standard temperature (ideally). Because temperatures and pressures will vary, and propane volume will vary with them and with use, the only constant measure available to determine how much propane is in the bottle is weight, which, for you physicists out there, is a proxy for mass. This bottle will hold 3.25 liters of water, which is sufficient volume to hold a bit over 3.0 pounds of propane, with, since people bring it up, enough room left over for safe transition to the gaseous phase. The bottle, with 3.0 pounds of propane in it, will therefore weigh a total of 10.0 pounds. These things are pretty well regulated and common, so if you're buying one by a reputable manufacturer from a reputable seller, you'll get what's advertised. A 3lb bottle will hold three pounds of propane, a 5lb bottle five, etc. Tare weights may be different between brands and on the basis of what is permanently attached, like the valve and the welded-on collar and base, but the bottles will hold what they say, and you will determine how much is inside by comparing the measured weight with the tare weight. Pressure also works, but is not as reliable because it is so dependent on temperature. Note that bottles are not weighed and stamped individually, so there will be some variability within whatever the manufacturer's quality control parameters are. unusual size propane tank--very portable!

It came as advertised. It's very portable and handy, and makes it possible to stop buying those disposable one-pounders that are really a problem to recycle. (I"m holding on to several of them til I figure out how to safely dispose of them.) Yes, you can get an adapter and fill them up yourself, but this is so much more convenient. I have an adapter for my Blackstone griddle and will use this for its fuel.

Flame King 3lb Steel Propane Tank Cylinder with Gauge and OPD Valves. I love this! Due to back injury I am not supposed to lift heavy weight. This is perfect. Very light weight..............not like the bigger tanks. Has a standard nozzel like the bigger tanks, but is compact. Was easy to get filled at U-Haul. I can finally use my big propane grill and burner without injury trying to lug the bigger propane tank I have.

to be used for filling Flame King 1# bottles

I bought several Flame King refillable propane bottles (like the Coleman 1# throwaway type but these can be legally filled), 2 of the 1# aluminum versions + several of the 1/2# and 1/4# versions. I did not want to use a 20# tank to fill these so the 3# version seemed like a good compact alternative. I have not yet tried using it for that purpose YET but I'm sure it will work fine. it's a very compact little tank and for those things people typically use a 20# tank for (but don't NEED 20# of propane for some event) this little tank is a good alternative. easy to carry even full, and is mostly out of the way.

Gauge and valve problem

This bottle DOES hold propane..The bad news is that the gauge does not work (an inconvenience but not a show stopper), and the valve does not completely turn off, (a REAL show stopper). Fortunately the secondary 'pin' valve does hold and gas does not leak from the bottle, but with a hose connected the burners DO NOT turn off when the bottle valve is closed. I can turn off the burners, but that still leaves gas in the hose and I will not risk disconnecting until I allow it to run out and I will not refill it. I have reported the problem to Amazon but there is no option to not return, which is a safety hazard by normal means. Best option is to take to local propane supplier for disposal. I hope a human reads this and helps. Being 'mobility challenged' makes the logistics more difficult.
