As pictures suggest it is in fairness a large comfy bag with several options. Didn't find any problem to carry documents, gaming equipment etc on top of the laptop

What are the zips like? Are they going to last?

Had mine for just over a year, use it quite a lot and the zips are still good.

Will it hold 44cm wide note book

Yes it will hold a 17 inch and more space for the rest of your stuff. I recommend you to buy it. I give it a 5 star.
