Without water, the bottle weighs 3 ounces.

Can you use them with carbonated drinks (sparkling water)?

Absolutely. I had one bottle out of the package with a threadbare seal otherwise they hold liquid nicely, carbonated or not.

Is the lid attached? Or can it be dropped and lost?

So the lid screws onto the water bottle, if you unscrew it then it could possibly be lost but it doesn't come off on its own.
