These are very aesthetically pleasing salt and pepper grinders. I was sick of our electronic ones leaving a puddle of salt and pepper on the table when set down so I was specifically looking for manual grinders that grind from the top. This design also doesn’t allow dust to settle onto the top grinder since it is covered. They are build nicely. Grind pretty finely. They hold a large amount of salt and peppercorns. To grind by turning the upper half, works well and turns smoothly and easily. Very pleased with the value of this item.

Aesthetically pleasing, easy to use and adjust grind size. The only downside is that they don't hold much and will need to be refilled more frequently than my last grinder set.

Beautiful mill and the wood feels great. Changing review from 1 to 4 stars EDIT: After fiddling with this mill some more we managed to get the bottom open for refilling purposes with the help of pliers which I really wanted to avoid. I understand the need to make the lid not randomly fall out but the design of the lid needs some rethinking. It is a plastic lid in a plastic thread. So far, the mill appears to work well. __________ Unfortunately it is impossible to say whether it is more than eye candy as the bottom does not twist open to be filled. The bottom lid only budges a bit to the right and left but not a lot and cannot be pulled out. So disappointed as the idea seems great but the plastic screw in bottom and the wood don't seem compatible. Will have to return.

I love the look of these! They work as they should and you can easily adjust the size of pepper and salt flakes. There is a slight texture to keep them from sliding through your hands.

Really beautiful shakers. The salt grinder does not work well. You grind and then salt comes out in big amounts suddenly instead of pouring out slowly. The pepper grinder works better.

I wanted to like these, I really really wanted to, but they're nothing but overdesigned, poorly made garbage. The design is meant to keep specks of salt and pepper off your counter but I guess the plan for that is to have it stick all over the grinder instead, it gets everywhere on them and if you happen to use them over a pan with any steam you're going to end up with clumps all over it instantly. I held onto these for a few days despite this, but I'm sending them back immediately after what happened this morning! The grinders have a small cap on the bottom that opens the compartment for filling, this cap SHOULD keep all the salt/peppercorns in the grinder but after using the pepper grinder only 3 times this cap proceeded to fall off and spill peppercorns all over my kitchen floor and make a HUGE mess; I know the cap was properly secured after filling, I was skeptical about it to begin with when I realized it was on the bottom. I only bought these because I'd heard Joseph Joseph was a reputable brand with quality that matched the price tag but that's clearly not the case here! Sending these back immediately and looking for something else! Do not buy these, you'll save yourself a lot of mess and money going with a different brand.

The set looks great, but does not function well. As other reviewers have noted the salt becomes a fine powder and sticks to the metal disc. Both mills leave a mess. Further, the salt mill stains easily; the stains cannot be removed.

Purchased this Joseph and Joseph salt and pepper Grinder a few months ago. Salt Grinder was a little hard to work about 2 months after receiving it until it broke 6 months after owning it. The Grinder part simply snapped off while I was using it. I contacted J and J first they sent me to Amanzon, now Amazon is not helping me replace this within the warranty. UPDATE Joseph Joseph stepped in a replaced my broken grinder, with a new one. Their customer service was excellent!

Well made, but messy! The mess isn’t under the grinder but now all over the table top.

Ich habe diesen Mühlen vor etwa 10 Jahren schon mal bei einer großen Kaffeekette gekauft. Diese Mühlen waren super. Tolles handling, tolles Mahlwerk und super Design. Da das Mahlwerk oben liegt, machen sie Mühlen auch keine Sauerei auf dem Tisch. Leider kam meine aktuelle Bestellung nicht an bzw. hat der Amazonfahrer das Paket irgendwo hinterlassen. Aber ich denke die Mühlen mahlen noch immer super, so wie damals.

Pepermolen werkt perfect. Zoutmolen niet optimaal. Het lijkt net of het zout blijft hangen.
