Watco lacquer
This product woks really good on my Maple wood plaques laser engravings, it pulls out the lettering real nice. Does not have a strong smell and it dries pretty quick.

It’s okay
It’s okay. It dries quickly but it takes several coats to get the effect I am looking for.

Gorgeous finish…
I constructed a book box of basswood, stained it with a Spanish Oak product, rubbed it to the hue I wanted, and then gave it three light coats of the Watco lacquer finish. Absolutely gorgeous finish…!

worked for me
Used this for a couple guitar necks. It went on with no problems. As a matter of fact I plan on using this on more projects. I recommend it

When you want the best possible finish, get lacquer
I tried Watco brushing lacquer and the old timers on the wood forums were right, there is no way to apply a lacquer finish without spraying and buffing. Its a spray bomb so don't expect a Ferrari finish after spraying. But work your way up from 600 grit wet to 1500 grit and you will truly have a finish like glass - no lie. Good price here on Amazon!

I’m not sure what the story is behind the other lacquer brands, I’ve seen prices all the way up to $160 for a single can. Who orders that? I’ve used Watco lacquer spray for years, the quality is among the very best, the spray is fine and even and smooth. And the price is comparable to what I would pay at a retail building supply, if they carry it. I can’t think of any reason to order any other brand.

I was disappointed with the Watco Clear Wood Finish Spray. It didn’t provide the true lacquer finish I was hoping for. The result was more of a matte or dull look, not the smooth, glossy finish I expected from a lacquer. I followed the directions carefully, but it just didn’t deliver the desired effect. From now on, I’ll stick with paint or roll-on finishes instead. For anyone specifically looking for a real lacquer finish, I wouldn’t recommend this product. It just didn’t live up to the expectations.
