very easy to use
I used this to repair an in-wall cable that one of the terminals had been damaged. Very easy to use, the contacts are very good. It came with it's own screwdriver to loosen and tighten the terminals. It works great. I connected it first to the good terminal and send a continuity signal to the bare wires so I can map them. Once mapped, I tightened each wire on the respective contact. After doing a signal test and getting "pass" result, the terminal for ready for the cover and functional test. It works like a charm. The one thing to pay attention when wiring the cables is the direction because the can become bulky and not allow the cover to close completely. At least I didn't want to put unnecessary pressure on those small wires. Since this was going to be behind the TV, I just closed the cover as much as I could and then finish it up with black electrical tape. Loving it!!!

This doesn't work AT All. WASTE OF MONEY,TIME& hope
Latest review: First of all, please note that I am an accomplished builder and handyman with experience in repairing lots of things, including electronics and wiring. My broken end cable goes thru walls so I can't replace it easily . So months ago before I initially wrote this review, I tediously mapped out another same brand cable in order to get the diagram to install this end, installed it as and i still had no still no video through the cable. Just now I followed the recommendations to reinstall this plug on both ends to make sure the wiring is the same and it still doesn't work in any devices in any hdmi plugs. So I am adding this latest failure to this review. This latest failure leads me to expertly assert that all the reviews here saying this plug replacement works are phony solicited ones. I wrote this review a long time ago and just now replaced the other end of the cable with this product , installing the same exact wiring diagram as I did on the other end. The cable is from my windows 10 PC to my TV. My PC does not see it connected to any port nor does my tv see the signal. So YOU CAN USE THIS JUNK PLUG to replace a broken one. in that sense, it will work BUTYOUR CABLE WILL REMAIN DISABLED, not working junk. The whole concept is BS, you cannot repair a broken end on an HDMI cable, PERIOD, so people selling this crap are selling snake oil. My verdict is that anybody that says you can replace an end on an HDMI cable or sells something to "repair" one IS LYING. I read where all the tiny 19 wires in the HDMI cable have to stay the exact same length and I did that as best I could by severing them all at the same place inside the jackets and then taking them out and screwing them to the proper terminals that I had traced out. and I double checked everything. Actually the only way you can ensure that all cables are the same length is using this end. cuz if you're solder splicing wire to wire, you can't twist the wall 19 wires together for soldering at the same length. This replacement end has definite stops for each wire, so I made certain that all wires were chopped the same length, stripped them and put them in their screw-tight sockets all the way in until the stopped, screwed them down, made sure they were secure. That's all you're sp[posed top have to do to be able to replace a plug like this, according to multiple articles and videos, then plug it into a monitor and source video and have it work again. I did all that that, it still doesn't work , o this whole thing they are pushing about HDMI end repair and this part is pure effing BS! Previous review: For $10 you get the replacement end in a shell, no instructions, an indecipherable pin-out diagram and a tiny cheap screw driver that can't be used Cons: installation, tips, instructions, tools woefully inadequate or flat out wrong. #1 when you buy this, the only information you will receive is on the item in Amazon which is woefully inadequate to the point of being wrong . It's wrong because the show the pin layout by number on the top and bottom side of the plug without designating a visual orientation of the plug, like which side is up or looking front or back. so I tested out my cable wires and labeled a diagram drawing consisting of the short row at the top and long on the bottom reading left to right, which turned out to be completely backwards because of the lack of orientation on the diagram on amazon. But I figured that out and not to my surprise, there were no further instructions or tips that came with this very expensive item (for what it is , knowing that these items cost pennies to produce) item. And then the provided tiny cheap screw driver provided is USELESS. I got out my little changeable bit hobby screw driver which is working fine. and there is no insulation trim-back guidelines or anything like normal add on plug kits provide.

You'll need a tool to help you figure out which wires go to which plugs
The instructions are horrible because no two companies wires their HDMI the same way. And different manufacturer use different coloring patterns. Unless you know the actual wire numbers you'll be working blind. Even with a regular wire tester you won't know which wire goes to what plug. I bought this Cable tester [HDMI Cable Tester Board, HDMI Repair Kit 19+1 Pins] and with that tester it was an easy fix even though the cable was proprietary and there were no manufactur diagrams available on line. Ex: my cable had one main ground wire and an orange, a white, a yellow, & a red wire, plus five triple coils wrapped in five different colored metal foils, each containing a light green, a white, and a clear ground wire. No diagrams I found, nor what AI pulled up matched. The manufacturer made it proprietary and hadn't released their setup.

Works great! Definitely worth the buy!
Had a tip break off from the TV from an HDMI cord that runs through the wall. This is great for even those with minimal HDMI wiring experience. I did reference the diagrams that are in the description. Only one set of wires were different but through process of elimination you can see where they went. Once done, quality was great sound and video. Much more cost effective than having someone come rerun the cable, less frustrating than fishing yourself! Great buy!

First, I want to say that this project seemed daunting at first. Second, this project isn’t for beginners, does require some electrical knowledge, patience and some tools. Backstory, I have an HDMI cable that is zip tied to several cables in the wall, so pulling a new cable was not an option. My options were to open the wall or replace the end of the cable, I chose the later. Ordered this part from Amazon, came next day. Doesn’t come with much information so some background research is required. Part came as advertised. Buyer Recommendations: purchase 2 F/F hdmi adaptors, extra hdmi cable if you don’t have one (long enough to reach both ends of your existing cable). Tools required: wire cutters, coaxial cutter, lighter, multimeter, electrical tape, and knife.

Each manufacturer uses different colours of wires inside of their HDMI cables. Not all are created equal. It's therefore useless to try to use the diagram shown in this product page, or trying to find one online. I had paint in the male end of my old hdmi cable and it wasn't making contact. I cut it off and exposed the head to see exactly how my specific cable's wires connect to it. Then, rather than copying a diagram, I connected the wires of the clean cut end to this adapter by copying what I saw on the head that I had exposed. Having said that, it's not easy. You need dexterity, fine motor skills and patience. I'd say this is for advanced and confident DIY'ers only. There are lots of reviewers here saying they're engineers or electricians or handymen, that they failed and that therefore the product isn't worth it. Ignore them. It works, but to make it work you have to rely on duplicating the existing product you're trying to fix rather than trying to do it by copying a diagram you may have found online or in this product page.
