Charming
Rene Goscinny was indeed a master story teller.I bought this book for my 10 year old and now my son and I are fighting over this book. Offcourse we both finished the book and now dispute is over the ownership of the book and also the fact who will read it again. Everybody go for it.

Ended up with an American translation instead....
Bought this recently through Blackwells via Amazon as it's quite hard to get hold of now... disappointed to find out on arrival it's the American translation of the book, so all the hard work that was done translating these to English from French feels like it's been undone by the unnecessary Americanisation of the text. Ended up buying a used copy instead and far more enjoyable - the other version can go to one of my cousin's kids in the USA who might enjoy it more!5 stars for the UK version, 3 stars only for the USA version which I received.

Brush up your French language skills
If you are brushing up your French, then get this, Le Petit Nicolas in French, and the CD in French. They are aimed at ten year olds, and if your French is slightly below that of a ten year, old using the three together will help both your reading and listening skills. (Nicholas is an English translation of Le Petit Nicolas and very useful as a crib for the words and idioms you don't recognize.)

So pleased to see this 'Nicholas' series again
So pleased to see this 'Nicholas' series again. Used to read them to my son, Nicholas, and I don't know who enjoyed them most! Delightful, innocent tales of a very un-street-wise little boy had us in fits of laughter. Purchased this volume for my young granddaughter, her dad delighted to see it again!

Great, funny and insightful book - fabulous "soup for the soul".
Well packaged and delivered. The stories are short, hilarious and highly entertaining.I seldom laugh aloud reading books - this one I certainly did!Joy to read for a parent or children who are able to read reasonably well.I would recommend this.

Hilarious and perceptive
My six year old son, Joshua, thinks this is the funniest book ever - particularly for the story "Jocky" in which the boys use some Naughty Words ("Great fat nit!") which are endlessly repeated by the foreign boy who (apparently) doesn't know what they mean. The stories each follow a similar formula - the children cause mayhem, have a great time, and are then baffled by the despair of the adults - but never become repetitive, and they show deep understandning of childrens' (and adults') behaviour. We are promised more, and I can't wait (it'll be "Jocky" for us here every bedtime until then!)
