More than pleasantly surprised
I had purchased a 40 piece SAE tap and die kit, a harbor freight special and went in the store and buy their metric one. They didnt have any in stock so I went to their website and they wanted 7 dollars for shipping. That turned out to be a great thing for me as I came on Amazon searching for a set of metric tap and dies. I like the way this set was boxed and organized and it had really good reviews. Once I received it, I immediately put it to work and was more than pleasantly surprised. The set doesnt come with tons of different sizes or pitches but the thing I really like about it is that each tap has three different tapers to them. One for starting the threads, one for tapping blind holes(holes not drilled all the way through) and one for finishing. I love this because I've had a real hard time trying to get the threads started using my HF set and it's been a huge pain taping holes with them. In fact, I tried to find the SAE equivalent of this set but havent had any luck. As to longevity, I'm unsure how long they will last but for the home hobbyist, I think this is a perfect set for the price. Just remember to use some sort of cutting oil and these should last quite a whileUPDATE* It is now December 17th, 2020, and this set is still in just as good of condition as it was when I first got it and wrote this review, with one exception. This way my own fault, but the thread pitch gauge started getting a little loose, so I tried to squeeze it a little bit tighter but went too far. So then they wouldnt come out at all. I finally got them to come out but they come out a little stiff, but that's ok and like I said, was my own fault lol. The majority of the time I've used this set, I only used the taps and never really the dies. This is because most of the time if a bolt was messed up, I could replace it with my collection of different size and threaded bolts. Well the other day, I ended up having to use one of the dies, because I was using my vise to try and press something out when I heard a snap. My vise wasnt working right so I took it apart and found that I had ripped out the bolt that anchors the threaded rod inside of the vise. I think it was loose before it was ripped because it only boogered up the last or first few threads. I checked and it was a metric bolt, which I do not have a collection of. So I was a bit nervous that I wasnt gonna be able to fix it. I honestly fell in love with this set all over again lol. First because the die holder/wrench isnt like most of them where one little screw is expected to hold the die in tightly. This one has 5 set screws and the dies have 2 dimples with a cut line in between them. I lined them up with the 3 set screws next to each other, tightened them all down and got to work. It only took me maybe 2 mins and not only was I able to restore the threads on the bolt(because my vise was broke, I had to use a wrench to hold the head of the bolt and had the die wrench in my other hand), but I was also able to chase the threads in the block where the bolt attaches to, to make sure those werent boogered up as well. That 2 mins of time saved me from having to drive 15 mins to town and trying to find a new bolt to fix my vise.Sorry for the long edit, but this truly is a nice set for the homeowner, especially at this price. I once again was searching for the SAE version of this one from this company, but sadly, I don't think it exists

Case was poorly welded and arrived broken.
Good cheap tap set for the money. Purchased for my RC's but have used it for other projects. They are decent quality but nothing expensive probably not great for stainless. Definitely hobby grade. The case arrived with no obvious external damage but the spot welds that hold the tools in place had broken and all the handles were scattered inside.

Holds up to the best!
Absolutely love this tap and die set! I bought this set originally, because I didn't want to spend a lot of money & I needed at least a junk set until I could afford something better. However, a full month later, I've definitely abused these dies & they're still turning great threads.. I do a lot of manufacturing & I've used them for hardened steel, cast iron, you name it. If you want a high quality set for 1/10th the price, this is it.

Fair price for inexpensive set.
Dies and taps are good. The case is ok. I bent the latch a bit so it closes tighter. Also the die and tap handles fall out of the spots but also bent those in easily to keep them in place. Works well to hold all items now. Good for the price. Used on a few different bolts and threaded holes. No problems with cleaning up threads which were bad. Slow and steady is the key with backing out after about every turn. Work the tap or die to keep threads clean. Patience is key. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Very useful tool box
This is a great tool box, it has a lot of styles, so That I can easily deal with a lot of work, it does not live up to my expectations, this is the most satisfactory tool box I bought, I really like it, I will recommend it to my colleagues and friends!

Good for the Price
This Tap & Die set was purchased to cut in aluminum extrusions. For a starter set, it is excellent. The tool is easily assembled, but does not stay assembled when in use. The arm keeps getting loose, allowing the bit to come free from the assembly.I recommend purchasing cutting oil, or at least using some kind of grease when using this tool. Never having used a Tap & Die set before, I made many of the common mistakes. I did not get instructions with this set. Once I figured out how to use the tool, it worked fine, but I still made a few mistakes. The bits are hard enough to cut into aluminum with relative ease. I was able to sink about 3-cm into the material to set my screws. I was also able to use the same bit on 8-different holes, without loosing the shape of the bit. My greatest complaint is that the handle doesn't stay on and tends to loosen as the tool is used.

NICE

Chinese crap
When it arrived, I opened the box, one of the handles for the tap wrench hadn't been assembled so I screwed that in, the 3mm taps were missing....seriously??? How do you send this to a customer with bits missing.....Tap wrench itself is poorly made, yet to try it out but don't hold up much hope for it being much use at all.....made in china stamped all over it is a giveaway, stay clear and invest in something that's a little better made....wish Amazon published country of origin on their web....would allow a more informed buying decision.
