Got this to attach a 10', 1-1/4" diameter round aluminum pole to a 4" square fence pole. Needed to mount a weather station on top of the round pole 10' off the ground.Bought a new weather station and wanted to mount it as high as possible. Didn't want to dig a hole, pour concrete, to mount the pole so I decided to use the post on my existing backyard fence to hold the pole.The fence has a 4" diameter square post. I put the pole next to the fence post and used 4 of these clamps to hold it tight. This held the pole tight to the fence post and allowed me to mount my weather station up 10'The 8" clamps were long, so I cut about 3-4" off of them and put them around both the fence post and aluminum pole. Took a while to turn the adjusting mechanism tight. At the same point on every full turn, it got difficult to tighten, I had to use extra force each time to get past this point.Other than that, it worked well. Appears to be very tight but don't know why it couldn't have worked smoother.

Maybe I ordered it wrong but total waste since it does not fit 6" pipes. If ordering, order big!

The engineer who designed these needs a dope slap. The screw auger is of such narrow diameter the steel band won't pass by the screw head without taking a screwdriver and bending the head. The auger head is about 2/3 the size of the auger heads on better designed screw clamps. Also, the screw head is 7mm instead of the more standard 5/16", so you need a special nut driver unless you are willing to use a flat-head screwdriver to turn the screw.The functionality of these screw clamps is greatly compromised by the design flaws. I will not be buying more of this brand!
