Excellent reading!!
I'm 82 and know all about mission statements, but surprisingly, I had never heard of a vision statement. Just that one point the author points out (in detail) has totally changed the way I look at life now. While it's "faith-based" reading the author makes her statements in such a way that is not offensive to anyone. Lovely book, and I heartily recommend it.

Great information and guidance for all of us - any age
When I first read the title of this book years ago I bypassed it. I had read other books by this author and really enjoyed them but didn't feel that I was interested in creating a mission statement for my work or my life.Recently I saw this book again in the library, checked it out, read it, and was so impressed by the wisdom in it that I have now bought this book for my adult daughter for Christmas. If you're interested in changing careers, starting your own business, determining what type of work you would be most suited for, or just finding out more about yourself, I recommend you read The Path by Laurie Beth Jones. Ms. Jones covers these subjects very thoroughly in this book and even tells of her own experience.I also think that this book makes an excellent gift for anyone who is facing the possibility of layoff, or who is in a career they don't feel suited for, or who has ever wanted to go into business for himself or herself.

How will you serve Him?
As a business and relationship coach, I used to be discouraged at how few people have created and are living their mission. However, after closer study of corporate mission statements and how many of them are little more than convoluted ramblings totally inappropriate for their application, it became clear to me that people don't develop their personal mission statements simply because they lack understanding of just how powerful knowing your mission can be.Working mostly with small businesses, many of them do not even have mission statements. Of those that do, it never surprises me that none of their employees can recite them. Is it any wonder that these same employees lack having developed their own personal or marital missions? One of the things I hear most often in marriage coaching is how much of a difference in the marriage since the creation and implementation of their own marriage mission. Many couples have told me through the years that having them create their mission statement was the most valuable part of the pre-marriage coaching and has served to keep their marriage focused.THE PATH by Laurie Beth Jones is such an enjoyable read. It is geared more toward creating ones personal mission, but can easily be adopted for corporate use as well. Laurie Beth uses the One with the ultimate mission statement, Jesus Christ, in various examples, as well as other familiar references from God's Word. Reading this book has been a great pleasure.

perfect companion
A well written and thought-provoking book. Don't try breezing through it or you won't be able to absorb it. If you are looking for insight into yourself and a way to interact positively in your life and with your creator's purpose, this will get you moving in the right direction.

The Path to the Discovery of your mission in life
Wow - an amazing and life changing book. Laurie takes you through the steps and exercises necessary to create your own personal mission statement. Once you formulate your statement, life begins to take on new meaning and the activities that you choose will be directed towards fulfilling that mission. This is a must do-and-read for those who are feeling somewhat displaced in the world, and perhaps a little unsure of what they can contribute to make life more real and fulfilling. I plan to purchase this book for all of our children. It may be one of the best gifts that they have ever received!

Really enjoyed it!
I am very glad to have had the opportunity to have to find and read this for a class because it's the kind of book where its benefits reach far beyond the meeting requirements for a class and that moment while you are reading. I would recommend reading this book first, of all the ones that Laurie Beth Jones has written. Jesus, Life Coach is also an excellent book but it references some information from this book that caused me to feel like I was missing out because I hadn't read this yet. I have not yet developed my mission statement but I'm closer and am excited to get started on my vision statement as well.

it's ok
If you look at the book as a process for bringing your life into focus it's got some good pointers, but much of it seems to be a little frilly to me - it think the book could have been cut in half and achieved the same message
