Astro Pneumatic Tool 12-Piece 1/4 Inch Drive Flex Socket Set - 6 Point Metric

Serious bit of kit, saved me when replacing a thermostat on a Volkswagen. The sockets don’t flop about and really grip onto the bolts - there’s been a couple it’s managed to get loose that other sockets I have would definitely rounded. Can’t knock any of the Astro line, just wish they had more available in the UK. For the price it’s a no brainer.

Let me say that these sockets are an all around WIN for any mechanic, from a professional dealership technician, to a weekend warrior, DIY tinkerer. I have almost 20 years of automotive technician, professional work experience. I currently work at a dealership and personally own a $500+ Snap-on set of the same sockets. I was putting together a small set of portable tools to bring with me when I go to the junkyard, or do a quick mobile job. I chose this set because I had seen some other technicians had owned these before and they seemed like a solid set for the money. So for the price, I figured I couldn’t lose in giving them a shot and buying them. Starting off, the set is COMPLETE, NO SKIPS. This is key. Many sets nowadays save money by leaving out certain sizes. This set covers you on all possible sizes, including the very popular and often overlooked 5.5mm. The 5.5mm fasteners are used in Ford, GM, and other import vehicles. The swivel mechanism is solid and flexible at the same time. Often times these types of sockets will become too loose and flop all over. These are a good firm swivel, with a great range of motion. The joints where the swivel moves are also held together with tiny hex fasteners, allowing you to tighten them, if they loosen or wear over time. As compared to most other brands that use a pressed pin, that can wear eventually, leaving the joint floppy and loose, making the socket difficult to use, these avoid that issue. The value for your money here is incredible, especially considering what these type of sockets usually cost, from a name brand tool company. And don’t forget... Astro Pneumatic is a name brand, professional tool company, not just some cheap knock off inferior brand. Astro Pneumatic has really come up in the last few years and has been making more and more quality tools, along with being a source for MANY of the tools rebranded by the big took truck brands (mainly Matco tools, who rebrand TONS of Astro Pneumatic tools). The storage tray is also very durable and sits nicely in any toolbox. Great for organization and great to know if you’re missing any sockets, when you’ve finished a job. One thing that did seem different from my other Snap-on brand sockets, that could be a negative, is that the sockets are slightly longer and less compact than my other set. This may be a negative for you, but if not, the extra depth to the socket head will likely not effect the performance at all. All in all, for the price, the value that comes from this set of sockets is incredible! They are a solid, durable set, which will hold up to tough professional use, or work well for the casual DIYer. Either way, for the price, you cannot afford NOT to have this set in your toolbox!

Only needed the 10mm swivel socket for a job. Bought the set and they are great quality and worked perfectly. Big thumbs up.

Great sockets for tight spaces where you can't get tools in. Saved my butt many times. Holds up fairly well to some abuse

This set is well built and compared to the snap on and matco ones in the shop, there is no quality difference. So far hold up well on 1/4" impact gun and electric/pmeumatic ratchets. Haven't stripped or snapped and are doing well.
