SRP00806 Tortoise Food, 12.5-Ounce

It is very good.

Although my Russian enjoys eating her regular mixture of fresh vegetables/greens, at times I throw this into her food mix if I run out of fresh vegetables blend of greens or provide this as an alternative for her to eat in hopes she might gain added positive nutritional value from the different variety offered than what I normally give her regularly to eat. I know she prefers her fresh green mixture over this processed turtle food, yet, she will eat it. I like that it offers a different fruit and vegetable variety than what I normally feed her, that it is fast and convenient, assures I never run out of food for her, along with it having some added nutrients, vitamins, etc. within the mix that she would normally not get. These are small, multi-colored, pea sized, variation of fruits and vegetables. These are hard, so I will first soak them within water to soften, then give the softened food to my turtle for her to consume. I start with about One-Eighth cup that I will only fill half full (I do not fill up the full 1/8 cup portion with food; next, I will fill the Eight cup container with food with water that will only cover to the top of the food peas - not to the top of the container. The food peas will expand to a larger portion size after absorbing the added water. Then, I will place the moistened food into her turtle food bowl and feed. Honestly, it is not her top, #1 favorite meal choice. Yet, many times having this food as a back up or an alternative sure has proven more than once to be "the food item that assured she got fed regularly." (Rather than wait until I recovered from an unexpected illness or got to the food store to buy her usual meal choice preference of fresh vegetables). I have purchased this particular brand and flavor ever since I purchased my Russian Turtle and will continue to incorporate this into her meals. The container appears to be fresh, vacuumed packed sealed, the container is plastic with a reusable twist lid top.

This is my box turtle's preferred foods. I add hot water to the dish causing these to expand and swell in size. The soft mush is his favorite way to eat the food. He's almost 50 years old and has been eating this for a decade now. It's getting hard to find, but worth it as he's a picky eater. I think the artificial colors do affect his poop and I change his pool water often because it gets nasty, but I also think my guy likes the brightly colored food. He always has loved red things.

My tortoise absolutely love these, but I’m assuming he is not the only one because these have been out of stock for months now. I cannot find these anywhere.

Our tortoise Winnebago is almost 82 years old, and for years we have fed him this amazing product along with healthy greens, and he is in great shape. I dampen some of this while chopping broccoli florets into bite-size bits, then sprinkle this on top, which of course has been soaking for a couple of minutes in water. This gives him tasty nutrition and hydration, and he loves this (with rose petals added for dessert if possible). And it is SO reasonable in price, I don't know how they do it.

This is the only food my 29 year old tortoise likes! Apparently it tastes good but I wouldn't know!
