Fun and silly with great illustrations.
I love this fanciful and funny story. I read it to my boys when they were young and now I read it to my granddaughters. I give this to many young kids as gifts. It always makes them laugh!

Great story, but book arrived bent up.
This is a great children's story. I was going to give it as a gift, but it was just thrown into a big box with two other boxes and sadly the cover got all bent.

Funny book for kids
I had this book when I was growing up and loved it. Thought it would be a good book to teach my kids to be themselves and not let the haters get you down and also not to take themselves too seriously. It worked- they loved it.

Not for Potty Training
I got this book for my two and a half year old, because we are potty-training and I thought it would be useful to start getting excited about "underwear." Amazon recommended it after I purchased other potty-training products, so I suspect other customers have had the same idea. It is a bad idea. The book does not do anything to explain the purpose of underwear, and is rather just a silly story about animals who love underwear (for the sheer joy of owning an item) and convince a sad, anti-social buffalo to say "underwear" several times, start laughing, and as a result, start wearing underwear like everyone else. But again, there is no connection to why anyone actually wears underwear. Instead, the book's underlying message seems to be that one should conform to have more friends, even if it means getting things you don't need. Buffalo is adament that he doesn't "need" underwear, but in the end, he does need friends, so he plays along.I have conflicted feelings about this message. But of course, that message is lost on my two and a half year old anyway. She likes pointing to any book with animals and patterns, so she will sit through it, but clearly, it is intended for kids who are slightly older (four or five). That intent is shown both in the storyline and in the length of the text. So most kids at the peak age for this book are already potty-trained.As literature for the four and five year old group, it is only okay. It is silly and light-hearted, but nothing stands out in the plot or illustrations that makes it exceptional. Also, as explained above, I have concerns about the message that Buffalo has to conform to make friends. Why couldn't we accept Buffalo just as he was?

Brand new book
Arrived brand new condition, as expected, but you never know. The story is silly and pictures are great! I read this to the high school kids we took on mission trips and it was one of highlights of their trips. I used different voices for each character and they asked me to read it several times a trip. Now, years later, one of “my kids” is pregnant with her own child and I HAD to get the book for her to read now. She was thrilled!

Underwear, by Mary Elise Monsell, will bring on the giggles Reviewed by, Barbara Langley
This is one of my favorite children's books. As a former teacher I made this book a fun project. First grade students get the giggles when they hear you say underwear. The pictures are wonderful and the animals each have their own personality. They all love underwear except one. They celebrate underwear in every way possible. They work together to help their grumpy friend appreciate underwear and the laughs, comradeship, and fun it can evoke. After reading this book to the students we cut an 81/2 x11 sheet of paper in half, fold again, cut a v shape at bottom to form legs then decorate your underwear with any design you want.Amazon has a wonderful selection of children's books for all age groups.

Its about friendship
I originally bought this book for my kids 20 yrs ago. They loved it. Over time it got lost or donated. So, I bought it again for my grandkids. I had to read it via video chat because of COVID-19 but the loved it.. It even kept the 1-1/2 yr old entertained. Its just a cute fun book.

A must have for any child's library
My first copy of this book finally wore out after years of reading it to my nieces and nephews, the kids in my 3rd grade classroom and finally my own three boys. I am now a principal at a K1 building and read this to classes as a reward. The kids love it! I had to buy a new copy for school and am now ordering one for my niece's baby shower. I can't wait for her to open it! I know she's going to love reading it to her kids too.
