OK folks, I'm one to collect kitchen gadgets just for the fun of it however this one is by far the best. I bought a beef Pot Roast that was about 2 1/2 inches thick and mixed up some spices from the cabinet and tumbled it for only 30 minutes. I then used kitchen twine to tie it up like a Filet since it was so loose after coming out of the tumbler. Tossed it on the grill for about 20 min, basting it with a a little butter and I swear it was as tender and juicy as a Filet Mignon, not chewy at all like you'd expect from putting a Pot Roast on the grill for only 20 min. Amazing!!!

The marinator works great as long as it works... i have replaced the tumbler 3 times and had to pay $150+ each time . It appears that the tumbler is made of plstic that is not able to sustain the vacuum pressure for too long. If you are not ready to spend that kind of money (tumbler lasts about a year when used 2-3 times per month), don't buy it and just marinade ahead of time..

the 1st time i saw this product, i knew i wanted one, and had to have it. but being that's so darn expensive, i put it off for quite a while. after considerable time, i finally bit the bullet and ordered one. delivery was very fast,and we were having fun with it the next weekend, AND WE LOVED IT!! it did everything it said it would. the meat was flavored throughout, and more moist and tender too. the bad: from the get go, the lid was always extremely sensitive to not getting it to seal leak free to the container, so it would hold the vacuum. it was totally frustrating as we would constantly try screwing it down tighter, or loser trying to find a sweet spot that worked. sometimes it would take ten minutes or more to get it to work. this is because you don't know if it's sealed well till after you put a vacuum on it for a while. it got so frustrating, that we quit using it. and that's pretty sad for something that we spent $300.00 on!! to the Marinade Express companies credit, they did quickly ship me a new silicone sealing gasket for it last summer. with great anticipation, it seemed like it solved the problem the first time, but the next use, it was frustratingly leaking the same as before. i have to assume now that the lid or the container's threads or the units were misformed. and yes. we always followed the instructions on cleaning it, and never put it in the dishwasher. i don't feel like pursuing the problem any further, so i guess we have a $300.00 boat anchor. UPDATE!!! 5 STARS NOW!!! >the Marinade Expressed people contacted me via the comment section. we discussed my problems at length. we came to the possible conclusion that we may have been over-tightening the lid causing it or the seal to distort and leak. regardless, he requested me to return the tumbler and lid for inspection. it passed their inspection. when returned, they included another new seal just "in case." upon receiving it, we've just minimally tightened the lid so that it lightly compresses the seal. IT WORKS PERFECTLY SO FAR! WOOHOO!!

Loved the machine, use it a lot. My only complaint is the the bowl cracks really bad and can't keep a vacuum on product. Can't get a hold of company all connections go straight to porn sites. I finally got a hold of someone to buy another bowl but you have to buy it with the lid. and cost about half the cost of a new machine, that Sucks. Will be looking for another brand some where else. Sad very good machine, very poor customer service. Would be great if I could find a phone # for the company, or if I could get another bowl by it's self.

When this product works, it is great. I have owned three. The problem is that the plastic flat bottom on the vacuum bottle is not stressed for the force of the vacuum pulled by the machine. The past two that I have had failed after six months. I was told to be very careful not to drop it and to hand wash it. This time, I was extremely careful not drop it and hand washed it the two times that I have used it. On the third use it was cracked on the flat bottom. I was willing to buy a new one every six months because I like the result so much, but two uses for $250 just does not work. I have contacted them during my previous cracks. I was told that I did not handle it correctly. A new vacuum bottle is half the cost of the product, which I paid once. I have come to the conclusion that no amount of kid gloves in the handling will overcome the flaw in the design of the bottom of the container. Flat is bad when exposed to a pressure differential. Add curvature to the bottom and this will be solved. If it remains flat it will need to be structurally beefed up substantially. I hope someone come in and solves this simple engineering problem and pays for the retooling of the vacuum bottle. If you are not sure if it is cracked, put an inch of water in the bottom and pull a vacuum. If you see bubbles, it is cracked. See photo. This is not a crack due to being dropped or overheated in a dishwasher. The cracks radiate outwards from the center of the flat plate bottom. It is overstressed due to pressure differential of normal use.

Love love love this item. Shipped fast and in great shape. I bought it for my husband he loves to bbq everything. This product is easy to use and works excellent. We use it almost everyday. Pretty quiet easy to clean and fits on counter top nicely. Excellent product I highly recommend it. We took it to our butcher at our local grocery store he used it and said it produces the same quality as the commercial one they use in the store. Well worth the cost.
