Semiconductor Devices: Theory and Application

James Fiore's textbook is excellent. It avoids feature creep (focused on diodes and transistor devices/circuits of various kinds, but omits operational amplifiers, which form their own book). It also avoids the cluttered, unreadable presentation of most modern textbooks (note to publishers: don't use color unless you can justify the need for it).Buy the paper copy to support the author. Read and learn from the book and his associated YouTube lectures. This format is printed on porous, uncoated paper in black and white with large margins and is ideally suited for you to mark up as you read, which you should do. You will learn far more by doing this actively than by scanning through a pdf copy of any textbook.Material is distributed nicely between chapters, and each builds on the one before (mostly). Malvino, while large and full of exercises, is not always well written. You won't get all your answers from this one either (there is no Holy Grail of electronics), but the book does not feel as frustrating as some of the standard options, and it is written by someone who deeply cares. The care and enthusiasm shows in every page.There are fewer exercises in the book than in standard texts, which tend to throw a wall of nondescript problems at you. There are some sections that explain concepts or introduce topologies without corresponding problems to exercise your understanding. However, if you are enterprising, you can make up your own and ask your own questions. And if you need more exercises, you can find those resources quite easily on your own.This book won't teach you everything you need to know, but such a book does not exist. This is a great introduction to the subject and a ridiculous value.

This book has a great way of explaining the mathematical and theoretical knowledge of semiconductive devices (diodes, transistors, etc.), would recommend to electrical students who are fascinated with this topic.
