Charles Dowding's Vegetable Course

Excellent Veggie Garden Book
Loved it all! Its a great garden book! Learning the No-Dig Way. Starting a garden from scratch, over grass, etc. Beautiful pictures to go along with the explanation. Perhaps, the only thing, I find wrong with it is, that the planting zone, is for South England, a zone 8. But with knowing what mine, is , and the way Charles Dowding explains things, one can do just fine. His Gardening Diary, is also helpful, to go along with this one. Would recommend it highly! Excellent explanation of disturbing the microbiomes in the soil and what will happen, if one disturbs the soil by digging and turning over. I live in a much dryer climate, and the information on watering is very helpful. With compost helping to conserve water. His way makes so much sense, in how we should and can rethink, how we garden and help in conservation of our resources. Also the benefits of even doing our own composting, even on a small scale. One big plus, is less work! To a certain point of course. :}

Thorough book on Vegetable Gardening in Compost on top of your Soil
Charles Dowding's Vegetable Course is a beautiful and well-written thorough book on growing vegetables in compost on top of your soil in beds with/without sides. Also essential to his no-dig method is pulling weeds immediately before they spread seed or even grow roots enough to require more effort to remove or take light, water, and nutrients from your crops.Table of Contents are:New ways to growtaking you through a yeartools and equipmentexplaining no-digcreating a growing spacean absence of weedsorganic mattersyour own compostideas for beds and pathsseeds and raising plants under coversowing and plantingcompanions and second croppingfewer pests and less diseasesalad all year rounda top ten of vegetablesafterword: fancy going further?suppliers and resourcesindexHis no-dig method is definitely producing for him big healthy-looking vegetables that make the reader salivate when looking at the photos. The book is well organized and Charles Dowding throughly explains his technique and the reasons and logic behind it. I enjoyed this book and recommend it.

Weed Problems Solved!
Just received my book today and I jumped strait in a began at chapter 5. I read through to chapter 7 and I found it to be very informative. I only put it down because my two grandchildren were behaving as if it was four of them. I can’t wait to dive back in and start from the beginning tomorrow. I started at 5 because I have a yard that is overtaken by weeds and I have been looking for a natural solution for quite some time because I did not want to disturb my soil life. This book did not disappoint. I found exactly what I was looking for and I’m exited to finally feel like I can move forward in creating my organic garden.

Why Don't More Folks Own This Book?
This is a very informative easy read. Anyone planning on switching to no did, read this! He provides clear information and plans. I do live in USA, so some information is not a clear match, but it is easy to tweak and make it all work.

Amazing book
I'm new to gardening and I'm so happy I read this book before starting my first garden this spring. I learned so many valuable techniques, plus the reasoning and proof behind them, that I know I'll have more success than I would have otherwise. Easy to read, and understand with great photos.

This book changed the way I garden!
A superb cook for vegetable gardeners, beginners or experienced. A straightforward writing style with useful advice and suggestions. I was at first sceptical about the no-dig approach (soil scientists in my family clucked and protested!) but after a year of fantastic harvests and fewer weeds, I was hooked. But the book offers a great deal of other practical advice, so worth buying even if you are already no-dig convert!

Charles Dowding
This is an EXCELLENT book. I have dozens of gardening books and this one by Charles Dowding, after the first chapter, explained to me how the garden lives and how to nurture the soil. It is so simple and has completely changed my way of growing vegetables... I went on to buy Charles Dowding's How to Grow Winter Vegetables... Gardening is no longer a battle for me as I now understand it.
